That was different... I heard the sound of loud engines outside thinking it may have been a chinook. When I peer outside I see a large vintage bomber doing a lap of East London. Possibly a B17? Not bad photos considering I didn't have very long to grab the big camera.

Eeep... Having noted how brown and dry everything is looking outside this morning I was wondering how long it has been since it last rained over my bit of East London. Checking my smart weather station it hasn't rained at all here since 28th June... 31 days ago. Yikes.

A graph showing rainfall in mm over time. The graph shows data from 1st May 2026 to today (28th July 2026). There has not been a single mm of rainfall recorded since 28th June 2026, 31 days ago.

I feel less guilty about buying a 3D printer now that I’ve actually custom built something useful… that’s not going to stop me printing off several kilograms of pointless tat of course.

How long after getting their first 3D printer does it generally take people to stop endlessly printing pointless trinkets you have absolutely no use or need for? Asking for a friend.

Ooof… I’m watching Disclosure Day and even the stellar casting isn’t going to save this movie. It might even be worse than Greenland.

Calling all nerds... who makes the best 3D filament printers these days? I've been hunting but it's so long since I last looked that I don't recognise any brands except BambooLabs who are a trash company with disgusting business practices. Elegoo and Creality seem OK but would appreciate input.

Day 3 on mounjaro... constant but very mild background nausea paired with sulphery burps so rancid they could wilt a houseplant from a neighbouring room. Definitely feeling some appetite suppression and the food noise is much reduced. Asides from the toxic burps I'm pretty happy with this so far.

Oooh... the exceptionally dishy Downing Street podium man is out. Starmer's either about to resign or dig his heels in. Today is going to be an interesting day.

Ooops... #HomeAssistant sent me an alert that the temperature on the balcony had reached 40c. It turns out that I hadn't been paying attention to where I aimed the exhaust host of the air conditioner when I turned it on earlier, so it was blasting hot air right into my NetAtmo weather station.

A graph showing temperatures over time from an outdoor sensor on my balcony. The line on the graph starts as you would expect it on a warm sunny day. The graph starts at 16:00 yesterday showing a peak of 25c slowly falling over the evening and night to a low of 20c. The temperature then climbs steadily through this morning to a peak of 32c until 14:00 where it suddenly jumps to 47c... the graph ends with a sudden drop after I had moved the hose of the air conditioner.

Good grief… some of the forecasting models are showing the potential for 42 degrees Celsius in London on Wednesday… I’ve managed to avoid using the air conditioning so far this year but 35C + indoors is my breaking point.

What on earth is going on in docklands this evening? I'm seeing a lot of thick black smoke coming from somewhere around Canary Wharf :/

I watched Project Hail Mary last night… is it just me or was it essentially a knock-off of Spaceman with Adam Sandler from a couple of years ago?

While doing a bit of spring cleaning I stumbled on my ancient iPod Nano… this thing can’t have been used or even charged in over a decade. I press the power button not expecting anything to happen and it boots right up. Going to charge it and see if it’s even still usable in 2026.

Good grief… I guess Plex don’t want people buying the lifetime subscription anymore and want to drive new users to the monthly tiers instead… understandable I guess but yikes that’s a lot. I’m very glad I bought mine back when it was under $100

Watching the livestream of Newham Council’s first meeting since the local elections and you can physically feel the toxicity radiating off the Newham Independent councillors through the screen… If this is the kind of attitude and disrespect they intend to maintain it’ll be a very tough few years.

Well bugger me sideways with a nobbly-hatted lawn ornament... an ebay package I was expecting that was shipped via Evri actually arrived at the right address, on the right day, and undamaged. What sorcery is this?

No Eurovision Song Contest for me tonight… the endless cheating and the corruption of the competition has completely ruined it for me, I just can’t enjoy it anymore. Instead I’ll be celebrating the 32nd birthday of one of my favourite films. The adventures of Priscilla Queen of the desert.

This storm is an absolute monster. A couple of smaller storms have drifted across London this morning but the one I can see rolling in right now is absolutely massive. Here's a quick and dirty timelapse video from my skyline camera:

RIP balcony pigeon It has been 2 months since I last saw him so I have to assume he is now an ex pigeon. A daily visitor to my balcony since summer 2021 when Input water out during the heatwave. He must have had some crazy genetics he would do mid-air backflips and had tan and salmon pink plumage.
