I don't get the tech community resistance to "Post in your own native language, readers BYO translation tools if you need them." And it's pretty disconnected from the regular-person internet because this is basically just standard practice (even if those sites provide default machine translation).

It will perhaps surprise no one that these ankle monitors cost ridiculous quantities of tax dollars in purchase and service fees that go directly into private pockets. The companies that make them also have the worst security stances you've ever seen. Basically all of them are trivially hackable.

The reality is that police tasked with enforcement for the purpose of pedestrian/cyclist safety are ideologically opposed to that goal and, in cities with liberal elected governments, they are outside civilian control for all practical purposes. (2/2)
