For the past five months the only refugees the USA has accepted are white South Africans fleeing equality & safety meanwhile they are disappearing or strapping ankle monitors on any Haitian they can get ahold of. It needs to be understood how thoroughly connected these two things are.
This can’t be described as just webdev A/B testing anymore, this is unregulated human subjects research being conducted without standard oversight, participant protections, or informed consent. A future sane Congress and HHS need to develop a solution for this.

It’s reasonable to criticize the corporatized major festival scene, but saying this about a genre of music itself is absurd, especially in this case. Forget that EDM evolved over decades from music in Black and LGBT communities, Israelis make it too so that means it’s all a conspiracy apparently.

This is the **Idaho** guard randomly arresting dissenters in Washington DC. It’s dishonest for media to just keep calling it a “deployment” at this point. You can’t have-wave away the social dynamics and historical implications of Idaho violently occupying DC.
"Get away from me right now," King, a retired U.S. Army captain who served in Iraq and earned both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, can be heard telling the three male guard members in the video as they approach her on the bench. "You have absolutely no authority to detain me."

Still amazing that the official government policy is universities can't do DEI except for hiring professors whose politics better align with the regime in power.

A couple times a month, ABC10 puts the wrong social media caption on a story and it’s always unintentionally extremely dystopian.
The most notable part about this is how little they’re trying to pretend that this isn’t an engineered hijacking of the league to amplify their message rather than an organic movement, and how credulous the league and media are being anyway.

This raises the stakes of the midterms substantially for public research. Based on this article, I think we can assume they’ll allow the rule to go forward if they retain a Congressional majority.

The politics of cars is not inevitable. The residents of Normal Heights in San Diego were once willing to literally fight an oligarch for their streetcar, and they won. www.sandiegoyesterday.com/wp-content/u...
Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
I predict this will be an issue in San Diego over the next few years. A politician selling a bus-based system as a way to quickly implement usable transit but not also talking about massive expansion of bus priority along major corridors is lying to sabotage future transit efforts. (1/2)
another factor: these network redesigns cut a lot of low-use routes that run on low-traffic streets, that tend to have favourable reliability stats. throwing more buses on high ridership corridors is good but this is also where traffic congestion is high. bus lanes/transit priority is critical here
Good. If the politicians are above accountability, then the doctors and lawyers willing to carry these plans out should be punished, especially since bars and medical boards are at the state level and have more independence.

This is very funny to me for some reason. Someone actually went to Finder/Explorer and checked the exact file size hoping it would be a compellingly enormous amount and it was only 695 megabytes but they still put it in.

NEW: Jeanine Pirro's motion to dismiss the Reflecting Pool case is going to have ripple effects. The decision to end the case against former Olympian David Hearn is already making a big splash — and this is likely just the beginning, not the end, of the matter. Tonight, at Law Dork:
Yes. And this too is about the political economy of DC orgs. White Coat Waste is a rightwing org founded and funded by people who want to destroy the gov’t, and they are hammering wedge issues to do that. Scientists have to pay attention to the flood of rightwing money in politics.
