Climate change may reduce the native plant species used by Indigenous cultures in the Amazon basin by one-third, according to research in Nature. The reduction could result in the loss of a quarter of the knowledge associated with the uses of Amazonian plant species by the end of the century. 🌎🧪

Can we actually predict how forests handle extreme heat based on plant heat tolerances? It's tough. A lack of standardized methods and physiological metrics mean results from different studies can’t be readily compared. This make big-picture predictions unreliable. 🌎🪴🍁🌐🧪 #climate #plantecophys
One of the most challenging things to do in the fight against climate change is get the financing needed to develop large-scale carbon removal projects. To do this you have to prove you have the best people, expertise, and science on your side.

I like the last paper I published- In it collaborators and I test a classic hypothesis in ecology for the first time (that we are aware of) in plants. The take-home message is plants that like temperature variability may “win” in future climates. www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10....
