Finally getting around to installing the I/O expansion card for the wireless probe and lubrication system. While I'm at it, I'll also put in the driver for the 4th axis. ✌️

Spun up a new design to add an ESP32-C3 module to the back of the flip-dot module, along with DC power input. Got a little carried away in inkscape for the silkscreen. Trying out github.com/30350n/pcb2b..., a plugin that is in the KiCad PCM for exporting textures directly into blender, works great

Rending of a circuit board, Components and soldermask look pretty realistic.

Finally working on some electronics stuff again. Got 2 boards that I need to assemble. I've spent most of the last year building the CNC, so it's been a while. Maybe I should get some fresh solder paste. 🤔

Tried milling M2 threads for this part, which worked surprisingly well. I thought for sure I was going to break this tiny thread mill. 😅 But I have a few more parts in the works that also require M2 threads, so there will still be enough opportunities for me to break it. 🙃

Needed something to store my HSK32 tool holders. Couldn't find anything off the shelf, so I'm making my own tool rack. I think 12 slots will be enough for now, my wallet will thank me for this. 😅

I just finished machining the first OP of the fixture/base plate. Took off the action cam to stop the recording, only to find out it overheated at some point, nice... Hopefully not too much is missing. 🫠

OP1 of the fixture plate is programmed. For OP2 I will simply screw it down so that I can machine all 4 sides at once and chamfer the edges, then for OP3 flip it and chamfer the back side. Very simple part, but I am still a bit worried about the 24 M6 threads I need to mill. 🤞

Next part to machine is a mounting plate for my new mod vise from SMW. Probably gonna film it again. Was quite happy with the quality of the action cam on the last part. Maybe this time also add cutting parameters for reference? Will need to mill quite a few M6 threads, that will be interesting. 🤞

We didn't crash! 😮‍💨 This worked out better than I had expected. 😅 I also put my action cam on the spindle, so I'll be posting a short video of how I milled this part.

I need to machine 4 of these parts out of aluminium for a colleague. I just finished the CAM for OP1. This is the second part I've programmed using CondaCam, so I'm still figuring some things out. I think this'll work ok, gonna order some 5083 aluminium stock and try it hopefully this weekend. 🤞

Just looking through some old pictures: I used to mill some of the simpler circuit boards myself. I even tried using UV-curable mask and then milling away the mask with a spring loaded bit. Thank god for the cheap prototype houses now! 🙏 Would not want to go back. 😅
