Partially dislocated my shoulder near the end of my vacation last week, triggering an impromptu reprioritisation of my work. I don't expect to get a lot done while my right arm is in a sling, but I am enjoying the opportunity to learn my way around the voice control features of my laptop.

This, so much. As long as 'number of papers published' is the single metric by which careers stand and fall, people will game the system. Nobody in power wants to change the system, instead it's piecemeal 'solution' after 'solution' ('AI to find cheaters!') instead of thinking about the incentive.

It is infuriating to me that energy efficiency has become a party political football in Germany. In an alternative universe, a pro business and innovation CDU would position Germany to benefit from an energy transition that is already happening. Instead, we have this ideological mess.
