We should be getting ten times as many TV shows and at least twice as many episodes a season of all of them.

At 11:15pm on July 21st, 2026 I began a rewatch of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (with the ADV dub)

Small potatoes I know, but it kind of bums me out that P*tchfork didn't report on the new Olivia Tremor Control album announcement. I remember the site turning me on to the band way back in the day with their review of Black Foliage.

I remember hearing that there was a Penny Arcade animated pilot back in the day. Did that actually exist? I'd be extremely curious to see what it was like.

Today, when asking the cast to hold off on their next take for a sec so we could put the shot back in focus, I joked to a room of 15-10 people "we could just shoot it out of focus on purpose like that Hong-Sang-soo movie". Nobody acknowledged it.

By my estimation, this image went on to define End of Evangelion because it was used for Manga Entertainment’s 2002 DVD release. At the time I was baffled and kind of annoyed that they’d put a spoiler for the end of the movie right on the front cover. I honestly still feel kinda this way!

Throw the Zucker bros and Monty Python in a blender with Homestar Runner and Cartoon Network, and I *might* be giving you an idea. A low-budget, scrappy, wacky comedy recommended to fans of Hundreds of Beavers!

As sad as I am that OK KO! didn’t run forever like it deserved, I’m so happy that we got to do a bunch of these.

I actually would like it if we had more opportunities to do episodes of shows that aren’t about the “main plot”. Those are where the weird, totally off the rails, fun stuff happens! Pickups are too small now for exploration though. The most unique thing about the tv format and we’ve lost it. :(
