When we say a scalar just has magnitude (whereas a vector has magnitude and direction), how does this work with a scalar that is negative? It may not have direction but it doesn't just have magnitude...

I thoroughly dislike cos² x and sin² x. Both the squared being on the function and the lack of brackets.
The notation "fg" for composition of functions is a terrible notation... Responsible for much confusion and mistakes galore from students. Do you have your own "most hated" maths notation? Let me know #MathsToday #Alevelmaths
