Another little panel from New Adventures from the Trigan Empire (out now). This was one of the first that I really felt worked in paint. Took ma while to get used to the medium.

New Adventures from the Trigan Empire is OUT TOMMOROW, so here's another of my favourite panels. This one ended up getting desaturated to make clear it was a flashback, but I always quite like the full-colour version.

With Book 1 of New Adventures from the Trigan Empire coming out this week, I'm going to be sharing some of my favourite panels from it. With some of the less space-management-friendly ones, you'll get a bit of process too.

A pleasingly jagged spurt of blood from his mouth adds a suggestion of movement and reenforces a generally diagonal composition. The wooden stock of a rifle is visible behind his head. An astute viewer would deduce he must be carrying it on his back.

Also included are the preliminary sketch and tighter pencil drawing that represent the early stages of the painting's development. All in all, a solid 8 out of 10.

I think this might be the first time this new logo's been revealed. Drew it myself and I think it turned out quite nicely.

I feel like The Battle of Yavin from Star Wars has to be one the only big, climactic action set-pieces in movie history where all of the principle characters are either sitting down or standing still.

Considering I now do almost all of my work with practical materials, it’s amazing how paralysing it feels to be without a computer. Those little intermediary digital parts of the process suddenly seem a lot more critical. (Also the fact DPD now aren’t even showing an estimated arrival date is 🤪)

More film series should have an instalment where the titular character goes bananas.

More process from Young Death: Fitting In (written by @kekw-writer.bsky.social) in @2000ad.bsky.social 2465. Still in shops until tomorrow. Really focused on the neck anatomy with Sidney. A sort of anatomical foreshadowing.

Pencils and finished coloured art for another panel of Young Death: Fitting In, written by @kekw-writer.bsky.social and out in the current issue of @2000ad.bsky.social I'm not generally a big breaker of panel borders, but with short stories, I tend to worry less about keeping things so regimented.

Some more process work from this week's Young Death story (written by @kekw-writer.bsky.social) in @2000ad.bsky.social . One of two or three panels in the story where I had a very specific idea of how the colour ought to look, which then dictated the palette for the rest of the page/scene.
