Interesting data point: I haven't sold any Pathfinder or Starfinder books since bringing them into the shop.

in the course of a few hours I got a notice from UPS that I owed over $500 in duties (on books from the UK) and then another notice that everything is cool and my packages have been released 🙃

So the idea of D&D "Universes Beyond" is an attempt by wizards of the Coast to capture as much of the non-fantasy TTRPG market as possibly under their centralized corporate umbrella

Last estimate I heard had for the size of D&D's business is at around a ~$400M. The Coastal Wizard's latest SEC filing basically confirms it. MTG + D&D + Digital: approx $2.2B MTG is now a $1.7B business 🤑 leftover $500B split across D&D and other digital products (Monopoly GO, etc)

Dear publishers: stop relying so much on discounts to move your product. It's expensive. It erodes brand value. In many cases it only "pulls forward" sales that you would've gotten later.

I ran the adventures in these in my MB campaign. Goblin Grinder had big moments, Bloat was gross and challenging. Cool to have in physical form finally.

At least half the stuff I've bought in the store were because of those info cards answering some basic questions, like number of players and typical game length.

This is also my #1 tip. I do not care about getting "gamers," per se, just people who are into the things the games are about

I think the way I'll approach this is just to share on what's working and what's not working. The number one tip I have is to learn how to present your games to different audiences, especially people who have never heard of a "TTRPG" or even a "roleplaying game." There's lots of them.

I WANT to go to Origins, GenCon, etc, but there's an opportunity cost calculation that just never works out. My time and money -- at least for now -- is always better spent on lower-effort ways to grow the business. But the FOMO persists.
