My brother Matthew is based in Cambodia, but visiting the UK to celebrate his 82nd birthday this Monday. Here we are on Cromer Beach, I think, circa 1951.

Trying to identify a piece of instrumental light music I remember BBC Dance orchestras playing on the Light Programme's Music While You Work show in the early-mid 1950s. I stil remember the melody - plonked out here on one finger piano. Anyone else out there old enough to be able to help?

It's the 82nd anniversary of the D-day landings in 1944. If people then had looked back 82 years for something to celebrate, it would have taken them to 1862. The year of Victor Hugo's Les Mis, the invention of the Gatling Gun, and escalating carnage in The American Civil War. #enoughalready
