My impression is that AI coding is on a "pick two of three" triangle: scope, ship speed, and correctness. Small tools are (speed + correctness) fast prototypes are (speed + scope) and big projects are (scope + correctness). Every project that tries to be all three degrades to "fast prototype."

A developer is just someone who lives their life surrounded by a swarm of agents which are accruing a pile of bespoke software based on their day to day interests and whims. You occasionally sell off chunks of the pile through automated brokers.

A weird downstream effect of LLMs I predict will start having an impact soon is that they are very helpful for fixing a lot of stuff that would not have been worth fixing when information about how to fix them was harder to get.
