I am, once again, not allowed to voice any opinions publicly, but I will say my wife has worked very hard canvassing for a candidate over the last few weeks here in Michigan and I am very proud and supportive of her efforts, so today is a very big day.

"We just watched one of the most incredible games in recent memory on the biggest stage imaginable featuring one of the most important athletes of all time. "Let's now throw it to Alexi Lalas to help us make sense of it."

One thing I will say is that the US youth soccer system is certainly flawed, but I am interested to see where we’re at in like 15 years, because there are some very, very good 9-year-olds out there at some of these clubs.

Not to be overly downer, but I’m hesitant to overstate the accomplishments of the USMNT when their wins were Australia, Paraguay and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and their losses were Turkiye (already out) and Belgium (4-1, outclassed).

"A 2028 first round pick (the LA Clippers' own) that, if it is top 16, instead becomes the unprotected right for Boston to swap its currently-held 2028 first round pick (the worst of Boston's and San Antonio's) with the better of the LA Clippers' or (if PHI's is top 8) PHI's 2028 first round pick."

There are going to be like 12 minutes of stoppage time and Mexico is going to be exponentially more desperate every minute that passes, we're gonna see some things we've never seen before over the next like 15 minutes.

I love late goals like Neymar’s because they make everything that happened previously so much more consequential. Suddenly Haaland’s second goal is the game-winner instead of just insurance, and Bruno G’s saved PK is an even more unmitigated disaster.

Some semantics are at work here (and some ownership covering their backsides), but it's probably a fair distinction - the Celtics aren't cost-cutting, they are creating a path to make a run at an expensive superstar in the summer of 2027.

From @adamhimmelsbachbot.mirrors.bot: "... a league source stressed that this was not a cost-cutting transaction, and there was no directive from ownership to trade Brown." www.bostonglobe.com/2026/07/01/s...

You have to think of it in the metaphysical sense, an effort to let the fates decide because the humans have shied away from their responsibility. They’re given an extra 30 mins to get a victory. And if not, then we invite the chaos of the universe to do what it will.

That was such a great game last night but man I hate variant-format overtimes in any sport. Penalty kicks, fewer guys on the ice in hockey, anything like that. When a tie doesn’t work, you have to just keep playing the game. Why are we playing side quest minigames in the World Cup knockouts
