New Yorker in Paris. I run, I dad, I won reasonably big on Jeopardy & Millionaire (and Cash Cab) in a previous life. Serious @joannascutts.bsky.social stan. He/him.

I get why the narrative is the way it is, and I know he hates being called a loser (hey, whatever irritates him on his way to the Big Beautiful Day), but tooo bee faiiiir, I lost the Nobel Peace Prize as much as whassisface did, and so did you.

BREAKING NEWS The 2026 #NobelPrize in Literature is awarded to the Canadian author Anne Carson, “for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature.”

Anne Carson is a hell of a good writer, and awarding another Canadian woman so soon after the last one might be a way for the Nobel Committee to give themselves a do-over, after the drama of Alice Munro. Per the announcement, Miz Carson is listening to the wind in Iceland at the moment.
