I'm Top, that YouTuber you've never heard of! Here I promote my channel, talk about video games and collecting, and try to be a good person.
Boba is an experimental purely one-button platformer, a gated exploration, a rage game, AND my first PICO-8 #JustBeatIt. Adding new moves w/o new buttons was novel & a handful. I missed one gem, but also, I didn't realize I was crossing the final goal line at the time. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
The novelty of room-scale VR & the locomotion in Eye of the Temple sparked an exhilaration that I've not felt while playing a video game in ages. That initial high wasn't fully sustained for the whole runtime, but it was still a remarkable & memorable #JustBeatIt. 👁🛕=👍 @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
You can include me. But you can't make me feel included. That part of my brain is missing or broken.
Hey, does anyone remember PlayStation Mobile? Well, I do! And somehow Puzziball was on my PS Vita, so after more than 13 years, I finally #JustBeatIt. It's a perfectly adequate puzzler, but not essential to my tastes. Rewards for perfect move counts shall go uncollected. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
there’s a funny irony to naughty dog’s intergalactic having physical sony media porn in their reveal trailer
Itch.io game Soko Striker exhibits what I like in a puzzle game. Besides the obvious (a grid-based 'soccer'ban w/sliding pieces), it also has complexity through simple mechanics compounding, not through increasing scope. #30 was tough, but I #JustBeatIt - GOOOAL! @polykillpodcast.bsky.social link 👇
The thing about leaving my comfort zone is the whole time I'm uncomfortable.
My Little Caesars app just had me play Slice Runner, an autorunner wherein I had to jump to avoid obstacles & catch 30 pizza slices w/occasional help from Spider-Man. And I #JustBeatIt! I'm not sure it shouldn't count as a beat & I'm also not not sure it should count. 😁 @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
The 7th Guest VR is a great reimagining of the PC classic w/better balanced puzzles & more robust & engaging storytelling. I wish my favorite original puzzles came back, & the final battle was a poor fit, but overall it was still a great time when I #JustBeatIt. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
Me: omg! our game just launched and PlayStation posted our launch trailer! 400 comments whaaaaaat! I wonder what people think of our game?? Oh… oh no #indiegame #gamedev #ps5
This <$20 Chinese G5 500-in-one game player has stolen ROMs, inaccurate sounds, inexact integer scaling, and extra unnecessary buttons. But it also has Super Mario Bros so I had to #JustBeatIt. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
Here's a spoiler-free recounting of my thoughts when I played Linelith and #JustBeatIt: Alright, got it. Pretty standard. Well, this is pretty simple... kinda easy really... ok. Ok. Wait a minute... wait... wait. Wait! Oooooooh, okay. Okay! Oh wow @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
The Exit 8 is a game that delightfully plays with expectations and the friction of tracking micro and macro observations simultaneously. My nieces and I had a rollicking good time when we #JustBeatIt, and we're still searching for more anomalies. A great choice on PS+. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
Plumbers Don't Wear Ties: Def Ed is absurd, amateurish, exploitative, corny, quirky, meta, & adolescent. But that happens to be how I prefer my entertainment! Its reputation didn't prepare me for its charms. Thankful to experience this silly little thing & #JustBeatIt! @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
Time Crisis is a defining light gun shooter and I #JustBeatIt on PS5. Finished both arcade on easy & a run of the special stage. Still a cool game but the PSX port has plenty of warts & typical arcade unfair design. Interesting to play w/ motion controls instead of a gun @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
Sliding is yet another minimalist sliding grid puzzle game and I #JustBeatIt on Steam Deck. It has 50 clever puzzles that are even trickier when you go for the minimum move threshold. I haven't done that for every stage, but I'm most of the way there. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
I enjoy "knock off" games to get a new taste of a familiar recipe. Sometimes I like the new flavor, sometimes not, but Echo Isle is a GB-style Zelda with no new seasoning. Still an enjoyable #JustBeatIt, but offers little that's unique, low challenge, & a sub 2hr runtime @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
I've had my PS5 since early 2021 and I've only just now found out that this little rubber nubbin is actually a button. To be fair, I never play online or with voice chat. But that doesn't preclude that I might just be incredibly stupid.
My mental health issues are slight, but deeply intrinsic. Literally woven into the fabric of my being.
#JustBeatIt 😮💨 @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
Ordinarily, a demo wouldn't count, but I'm counting the nearly nine hours to #JustBestIt 105 puzzles in the Order of the Sinking Star demo. This slice is more robust than many indies! Extremely rewarding sokoban; every room requires a tiny bit more brain than you brought @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

bold choice to announce no more physical media on the SAME DAY you announce the closure of two digital storefronts, all within a week of removing hundreds of movies from your customers' digital library without notice or refund.

Finally played Song of the Deep, an underwater gated exploration adventure. The exploration & upgrades were pleasantly surprising, but the combat doesn't offer the same satisfaction as a 'vania or Metroid. But, on the whole, I still enjoyed my time as I #JustBeatIt. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
While I also think the Steam Machine is unfortunately costly, the entire Steam (and wider PC) ecosystem offers such extreme price advantages over the other marketplaces that with some patience and prudence in software purchases, you may recover the upfront hardware costs in just a few years.
Hellblade is about Senua going through Hel and coming out on the other side. I hope Ninja Theory can do the same.
