🗳️ 🟠 ✊🏼 Last night, One Nation won its first federal lower house seat in Farrer, convincingly. the establishment must come to grips with the fact the system is fundamentally broken, but the left also must acknowledge it hasn’t done enough to connect with people who are rightfully angry. 🧵 (1/2)

<🏠 📈 ✊🏼> Am I happy to hear that we may finally get some Negative Gearing and CGT reform? Yes. Am I still pissed, cause we only got here through years of the gov telling us it was impossible, impractical, that its harms on the market were inevitable, yet NOW we can change it? Hell yes. (🧵 1/2)

It’s hard to celebrate ceasefire after the threat of genocide. I’m happy that countless Iranian civilians are now going to be safer, to see conflict paused. But the US President threatened to commit genocide. And our government’s response was that we should let Trump do what he feels he needs to.

Easter is a time for christians like myself to celebrate love, find comfort in community, and embrace rebirth. In a world on fire, I’m thankful for the beautiful people in my life, and know that a more just world is not just possible, but worth fighting for. Happy Easter 🐣 to all who celebrate 💚

Angus Taylor as leader seems to be just a wildly self-sabotaging decision. Putting aside my own politics for a second, I understand the move with Sussan Ley or Tim Wilson. If you hold the party together and even signal to moderates this project isn’t over, you can try and ride out the populist wave

Monash Uni ends partnership with Woodside Energy! This is a huge win for staff and students who have been campaigning for years to get this climate-wrecking company off their campus. My heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to those who have fought so hard for this.

🏃 𝐌𝐚𝐦𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐢-𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 ✊🏼 @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social is the projected Mayor-elect of New York City. The win is decisive, and with a projected 2.2 mil votes, has seen an almost doubling of turnout, with new constituencies encouraged to vote. Bold politics can win, and is the answer to a world on fire

The Coalition was never gonna be a good faith partner on environmental reform. The path forward was going to be with the @greens.org.au and indies. Labor needs to be willing to come to the table, stand up to WA mining companies, and make a progressive deal (this time without the PM sabotaging it).

Labor rejects 'mad' Coalition idea to cut environmental reforms in two

Opposition leader Sussan Ley wrote to the government on Sunday to suggest its environmental reforms be split into two to prioritise "practical measures to streamline approvals".

So privileged to have participated in the creation of this article from Gillian Aeria in the ABC on social media, protest, and Gen-Z in the Philippines and across Asia. Was amazing to be part of the team (mga amazing na kababayan Nicole, Shen, and Paris!) and was an amazing read 🫶🏼

In some countries 'wealth flaunting' was aspirational. Now gen Z are calling it out

Gen Zs in several Asian countries launch an online war against political "nepo babies" who flaunt their wealth on social media.

As the government prepares to announce a tougher target for emissions reduction by 2035, experts say that Australia has made no progress beyond the low goal set by the last Coalition government. satpa.pe/kHhIOJV

An important opportunity to let the Uni know how powerful the @stopwoodsidemonash.bsky.social movement is ✊🏼✊🏼

Stop Woodside Monash@stopwoodsidemonash.bsky.social · last yr.

@monashuniversity.bsky.social has given the #monash community a ridiculously short consultation period for their ESG policy revision. SWM has concerns, and believe that any meaningful ESG policy would conclude that the partnership with #WoodsideEnergy is not tenable. Help us tell that to the Uni!

6 days is a ridiculous period to review a 26 page document. Monash must #pushbackthedate and make sure that students and staff can offer meaningful input in this ESG policy change.

Stop Woodside Monash@stopwoodsidemonash.bsky.social · last yr.

@monashuniversity.bsky.social has put forward a public period for reviews on their ESG Green Paper that is only 6 BUSINESS DAYS long. This is ridiculous and an extension is necessary for students and staff to review a 26 page document on their most consequential policy.

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social has won the Democratic primary for NYC mayor, beating disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo A campaign built on universal humanity and a bold vision to solve the inequality crisis is what this world needs There are many lessons here for progressive campaigners globally
