At our 4th annual orientation, one of the Black male teachers honored teared up & said he'd never been recognized for anything positive in his entire life. The way the entire room teared up & clapped even louder...this is why I do this work.

Putting a 10 year old on tv to talk about his friend being shot at school is a different level of diabolical.
I love how kids can have the longest conversations about random things they're interested in. They can talk for hours about things like rocks & sloths without prompting. I wish schools were designed to cultivate kids' natural curiosity.
Feeling that "itch" for change. Not sure if I want to change jobs, change countries or what. I'll figure it out though.
So I bought a few copies of this book for my school. My principal read and loved it. He then asked if I could possibly arrange an author visit. I had to explain that she's a bit out of our budget lol.
