Kamaitachi no Yoru is simply one of the most important Japanese games in history, period. In the historical trajectory of novel games, if Otogirisou, Chunsoft's previous gane, is Pac-Land, this is Super Mario Brothers. It is that foundational in the storytelling and design paradigms it codified.

I'm trembling while writing this: Kamaitachi no yoru—not the PC remake, not the iOS port, but the actual original SFC version—has been translated at last by ButThouMust, who graciously brought us an English patch for Otogirisou in the past. This is HISTORICAL.

I've been slowly making my way through of the Devil lately, and it's really great. Very unique take on Ace Attorney-ish gameplay with really confident aesthetics and storytelling. Definitely check it out!

Sure, Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is linear, but is that a negative? This wonderfully written graphic adventure from designer and writer Rika Suzuki shined on the DS nearly two decades ago, and remains as gripping of "a mystery novel" in video game form now as it was then.

Today's news really reinforces how much I'd like to do a Detective Instinct physical release someday. It never would've occurred to me that such a thing might not even be an option in the near future 😥

TooManyGames was amazing. Nothing beats getting out and actually meeting other developers and players in person, and I still can't believe we walked away with three award nominations (including Best In Show ‼️) and a win for Best Visual Novel. Scorsese's storyboards for Taxi Driver were a big inspiration for me, a poor artist, to feel confident drawing ideas to share with our illustrators for DI. I can't understand why so much of the older generation of artists are swayed by this crap when they already had it all figured out.
