When you're in a real bad place, having people try to cheer you up can be disheartening. It's like you're on a plane that's going down, and you have to pack your parachute to survive. It's all tangled up, and you don't know what you're doing, and people are trying to distract you and make you smile

Hot take: I don't like it when people shame people (rich or otherwise) for getting hair restoration procedures. I really like my long hair, and my hairline is receding and it makes me self conscious, and if I could get it fixed it would make me so much more comfortable in my skin

DID YOU KNOW that if someone *doesn't* say anything about me or my art/performance, it's because they are too polite to give criticism. But if they DO, and give me a compliment, it's also because they're too polite to give criticism and instead are just patronizing me?

Flipside: the reason I'm out walking in 103 degree heat is because I'm trying to stave off PDA panic/anxiety attack/tantrum that's been keeping me from getting important work done for the last week (leading to ever increasing anxiety)

I used to think it was super annoying that I sweat so much. Then I gave in and learned to soak in the heat, and started using headbands. Now I just think it's neat that I can effectively thermally regulate when it's 103F outside and 113 heat index.

I'm finally discovering naps. I've always been terrible at them. Ocassionally I've had great ones, but usually I either lay restlessly or just fall into deep sleep and then the rest of my day is ruined. My tool: alarm. If I set an alarm it's easier for me to relax, because I know I won't oversleep.

Finally have CT scan on tuesday as first step toward getting this hernia stitched up! Been on a roll of "actually following through on medical stuff I've been not addressing for years"

@furality.org not only made me mourn the end of a 3rd space that they invented for a weekend, but also every single 3rd space and community I was ever part of and drifted away from and never had the chance to properly mourn. The heartache of a lifetime of lost connections felt at once

Am I more sore than ever after a long night of dancing? Yes. Do I still go harder on the floor than most of my younger peers? Also yes. Was trying the new @ironicsoap.bsky.social SoapCritter avatar! I REALLY appreciate the shoulder width adjustment. Haven't vibed with an avy this much in years
