And with Ash, with a new mindset and ideas to try, the battle against Paul raged on! With 110% of his power and his passion, a miracle was forged to bring him victory!

Finally, our heroes' journeys reached their dramatic conclusions! In a visit to her friend, the Legendary Pokemon, Diancie, Serena finds a threat from their past returned to wreck havoc. With the fiery declaration of her dream, Serena emerged victorious!

In the Sinnoh Region, an urgent request turned out to be anything but, as Ash reunited with Dawn and faced off against his greatest rival to date. Though Ash had new tricks to spare, Paul had been far from idle himself. A loss here set Ash's sights on a rematch, at Lake Acuity!

Serena's next test came in Cyllage City, where she encountered new allies and rivals alike, including her newest Pokemon, the eponymous trickster, Eris! Her training and new tools ultimately brought her victory in a down-to-the-wire match again Grant!

Meanwhile, Ash's journey of self reflection brought him back to blasts from his past, including the Water City of Alto Mare. After reuniting with an old friend and facing some unexpected foes, his sights were set towards the Sinnoh Region!

Serena's journey began in earnest as she faced Viola for the Santalune City Bug Badge! Though it took trial and tribulations, and a little unintentional cheating, she emerged victorious!

She was only 48 when she past... I can't help but wonder, if the US healthcare system was better - more accepting and less costly- would she have gotten help. Would she still be here. What else would she have created and inspired. Idk. Regardless, things need to be better than they are.

It's hard to trust your doctor when they wave off your concerns as nothing. Seem notably uncomfortable just looking at you. Ignore your requests of bodily anatomy because "you might change your mind later".

Maddie Blaustein past away about a year after this interview from an untreated stomach virus. She mentions in the interview how uncomfortable she is with doctors... It's not hard to imagine why. It's a feeling echoed by many women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to this day.

This interview was recorded almost 20 years ago but it could have just as easily been yesterday. It's maddening we haven't made more progress in that time for trans people.
