This is an excellent snapshot of a superb idea! A state public bank that serves the public interest and returns profits back into our public purse instead of sending to Wall Street and investor class elites. We could do this is WA, all we need is political will. @waforpublicbanking.bsky.social

CPBA’s @trinitytran.bsky.social breaks it down. CA is the world’s 4th-largest economy, yet we pay billions in interest & fees to Wall Street banks and private investors. North Dakota’s economy is just 1/50th our size. Its public bank returned $335M to the state last year. Imagine our potential!

Faye Wilson Kennedy w/ the Poor People’s Campaign brought the conversation back to who gets left out when Wall Street decides where California's money goes: renters, homeowners, transit riders & communities that have waited decades for investment. A state public bank changes who money serves!

Great piece from Christopher Armitage: "Public banking belongs at the center of every blue city & state’s legislative agenda for the 2026 & 2027 sessions... it is the only major lever that funds the rest of the agenda rather than competing with it." cmarmitage.substack.com/p/we-could-e...

We Could End Every Blue State’s Budget Deficit With One Policy. Even a Five-Year-Old Could Explain It.

If we can convince a five-year-old, we can convince our state and city representatives.

Motion passes! The LA Charter Reform Commission approved a clarification aligning the City Charter with state law, the California Public Banking Act (AB 857), so LA has a path to pursue a public bank if it chooses. Thanks to Chair Raymond Meza & Commissioner Carla Fuentes.

“...The question isn’t just is there enough money,” Tran said. “...who decides where our common dollars go today, how they’re used, and whether they stay in communities and benefit our localities, or... keep getting signed out to private institutions...” #CreatePublicBanksNow! #It'sOurMoney!
