A lot of folks have interviewed Grant Kirkhope about the DK Rap over the years and he's had very interesting things to say! But I really wanted to talk to the guys who actually rapped it, and managed to get the "So they're finally here!" guy on a call for this:

The DK Rap is a silly, yet beloved, cornerstone of Nintendo and Rare history. It was also recorded in a stuffy hallway by the game director and a programmer who was picked because he listened to Tupac sometimes. https://kotaku.com/stuffy-silly-arhythmic-hallway-recording-original-dk-rap-2000715929

modern godzilla shit loves 2 treat the breath weapon like the craziest shit in the world. of immense importance and gravitas. u gotta feel it in your balls lifting up when he shoots that thing. but back in showa n heisei he just throwing it out like it's a command normal. dont even cost meter.

I've seen a few people say the Ocarina of Time remake's realistic aesthetic is like the promo art/ads from 1998 and I gotta say I respectfully disagree. The stuff back then was very stylized and anime-adjacent, imo a game chasing this look wouldn't look like the trailer we got

ocarina key art, young link slashing some plants, it's cartoony and shadowy. navi is orange??ocarina of time key art, adult link and shiek fight hordes of enemiesocarina of time promo art, young link pulling out the master sword. that's an anime faceocarina of time's big collage key art, very vibrant and shadowy and anime-ish

Been a couple weeks and I think I can safely say the new Steam Controller is completely worth it. Feels great to hold even though I prefer the Xbox style stick layout, and not having to mess with cables or Bluetooth every time I want to play something is a game changer
