This is the kind of hurtful rhetoric that gets a man taken out of the acknowledgements.

Not very far into THE BUFFALO HUNTER HUNTER, but I am deeply impressed by @stephengrahamjones.com going "You want to see me land a backflip?" about his own prose in the lead up to Arthur Beaucarne's journal, only to segue into a floor routine that I haven't seen all of, but is going to the podium.

If you haven't read it before, you should! Depending on your temperament, it will ruin either your afternoon or your whole life. But in, like, a productive way. Probably.

Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

Went to see "Hadestown: The Musical" (2026, dir. Brett Sullivan) with @reenamccarty.bsky.social today. Heck, if the ending doesn't get me every time. Also, I naturally overheard some Reeve Carney slander happening on the way out of the theater. But he's good! He's doing A Thing! It WORKS!

I get around this by believing some people should be killed, but it is always wrong and the government shouldn't do it. That and violence might always be immoral, but sometimes not violence is more immoral.

We are watching a proshot of "Heathers: The Musical". It is one of the more uneven shows I've seen in a bit, even compared to the source material. Which is SAYING something.

"The Muppets' Odyssey" with Jason as Odysseus, Gonzo as Telemacus, Kermit as Menelaus, and Miss Piggy as Helen would fix everything currently wrong with the world. I don't know HOW, but I know it WOULD.

Can you think of a movie/ tv trope that is a wildly inaccurate representation of what they’re trying to depict? For me, it’s science stuff . They’ll show a scientist and say something like “ he has a ph. D in molecular biology “ and then have him solving physics or organic chemistry problems

We are three seasons deep in "Younger", the show where everyone pretends that Sutton Foster is in her 20s just because she's so dang cute. So far my favorite thing is that famously graceful professional dancer Sutton Foster STOMPS everywhere as a really funny character choice.

Would that it were sooner and worse.

This is true for almost all "full time" artists of every type. Or, you know, family money.

Behind every "solo dev success story" is usually a partner working 9-5 for years to pay the bills.

I know nobody cares about this, especially not in this moment, but it really chaps my nips when people doing MCC Miscast sing covers of songs instead of renditions.

I really haven't been vibing with the book series I'm reading right now, but the last book has a plot point where they trick a centuries old vampire into becoming terminally online so he's easier to manipulate. I've never turned around on a series faster. This shit SLAPS.

I really wanted to leave it there but pack it in pack it out also applies to books.

Another place I bravely didn't leave a book because I follow the rules.

Really not beating the Soft Hands Indoor Boy allegations considering I got a pretty good blister assembling a piece of flat pack furniture.

I've had the phrase "a t-rex but make it Fosse" stuck in my brain for the last two days and I know exactly what this looks like but need a good dancer to please make it a reality because I just don't have the chops.

My debut came out in April and the ebook is currently very cheap! It's got hiking and food and magic and stabbings!

Finally getting around to watching "Hush" (2016, dir. Mike Flanagan). Competent, well constructed film so far! I will say that the most fun @reenamccarty.bsky.social and I have had is speculating if a one million dollar budget covers a single broken window.

I don’t like how you can’t tell if photos being quoted contain alt text anymore Sometimes I want to repost a quote that contains a photo, but I can’t without clicking on the photo because the little ‘alt’ indicator is no longer visible within the quote

I am 100% capable of running a TTRPG session with zero prep. This is very good because when I start doing prep I become immediately sidetracked by detailing exactly what items every store in the starting village has in stock and how their prices differ from baseline.

I do NOT like live action, musical theater Paddington. The performer is doing a job of work and deserves all kinds of credit, but I cannot abide the creature itself.
