"They Were Expendable", based on a scene from an eponymous John Ford film that I couldn't get out of my head. I tried to get across a complicated scene, tried multiple experiments, and ended up with whatever this is.

The setting is a small U.S. army evac plane, which I sliced open and broke dimensionally, about to leave a very hopeless scene. A heartbroken spotted dog (or coyote?) tries to do a noble sacrifice, albeit for personal reasons, but is thwarted by the chain of command.

weird people fall in love with each other all the time

Original art piece idea by @mIdrux on Twitter, but I and others were disappointed they drew it with mean-spirited intentions.. even calling the kidfur character a "diddyblud" (yes. verbatim) and getting wrapped up in "proship discourse." I thought the message was too human to let it be diluted + overshadowed by typical online whataboutisms and wanted to redo + reclaim it with more touches of the furry fandom, esp being a furry myself. It's love. For some, the love of your life is in the corner of a boring furcon panel room -- even if they don't have the same "interests," it's care that bridges the gap.
