Today would have been my grandfather's birthday. He was many things but at heart, he was a kind, jovial, and sunny man who didn't let his past weigh him down or color how he treated others. He was genuinely interested in other people and their happiness. I still miss him dearly.

I cut myself off from a lot of things that I use to love in order to "hunker down" and concentrate on work and it's taken me time to realize that all my dropped hobbies were a matter of self care. Could do with a bit more self kindness.
