It's not just that the federal downsizing occurred without any meaningful effort to sort out between high and low performing employees. They did not assess agency needs. It was fire first, figure it out after.

As of May, FEMA has pushed out over 6,400 employees since President Donald Trump took office last year, according to data maintained by the Office of Personnel Management. FEMA is now trying to hire nearly 350 employees deemed a priority by the agency, according to the GAO, although the watchdog says that as of last month, FEMA still hasn’t done the analysis and planning related to its workforce necessary to make sure that it’s prepared for future disasters.

America’s biggest companies report ‘rock solid’ profits as consumers face higher costs, FT “…robust profits at a time when many Americans are struggling with affordability could provoke a public backlash, particularly given the rise in energy prices caused by President Donald Trump’s Iran war.”

Moralistic finger wagging from malevolent boomers will do wonders for sagging enrollment at an institution that probably has a sub~50% graduation rate. Hell if I had to guess I’d wager they already nixed all literature, humanities & social sciences in favor of “vocational technical training.”

Southern university requires business suits, bans du-rags and other headwear in new dress code www.foxnews.com/us/southern-...

There’s an entire company in Brooklyn whose whole shtick is like “we’ll figure out the Byzantine overlapping regulations for you AND help with the logistics and maybe even instal*” (*if you own your own roof). A modern grid would allow This at scale. Distributed generation is a game changer.

I talked about it in my newsletter a few months ago and got a very detailed email from an electrician out in Oregon who installs balcony solar. He said that it is more complicated than that and there are some code changes that need to happen in the US to make it safe and widespread. Interesting!

I remember when I got dysentery back when we had a semblance of a functioning public health system. My states department of health did contact tracing and found me, interviewed me, did full contact follow ups, health inspectors visited several places i remembered eating from. That’s what we cut.

RFK Jr's CDC reportedly scaled back foodborne disease tracking last year, removing cyclospora from mandatory reporting. The CDC also lost roughly 3,000 employees since 2025. Now a cyclosporiasis outbreak has killed 2 and sickened thousands across 45 states. "Make America Healthy Again."

Fucking finally someone says the thing we all knew deep down but everyone was scared to print. The one thing that all human life depends on. The food. Crops in the ground. Wilted, dried up, burned by fire or burned by salt intrusion, stunted without adequate fertilizer & stressed by pure heat.

@robinsonmeyer.bsky.social has been conducting polling on this for @heatmap.news and the difference between this year and last is a monumental shift. EVERYONE hates data centers. There’s no organic constituency out there hacking FOR data centers that isn’t paid by the lobby.

All year, I've been watching data centers take hold as THE political issue of this cycle. But no one has dug into it quite like @mollytaft.com www.wired.com/story/how-da...

NEW: An unusually widespread outbreak of the foodborne parasite Cyclospora has been causing illness across the U.S. this summer. Regulatory neglect, corporate consolidation in the food system, and poor labor conditions for farmworkers helped drive the outbreak. www.iatp.org/industrial-f...

Contamination by Design: How an industrial food system has driven the Cyclospora outbreak

Regulatory neglect, corporate consolidation, and poor labor conditions contribute to the spread of a diarrhea-causing parasite.

fortune.com/2026/07/26/g... The American dream is now just another get rich quick scam bc people don’t have money to live, enjoy culture, dream or the mental space to aspire to better things. They’re so thoroughly ground down that they fall back on addictive self-soothing & self-medicating.

Gambling becomes America's favorite pastime as Americans spend more on sports bets than movies, arts, museums, and music combined | Fortune

Americans wagered $166 billion on sports last year, more than Hollywood, the music industry, books, and museums combined.

I watched a video about cat and dog DNA changes to be domesticated. Wolve's DNA changes in a bunch of different ways. Cat's DNA had ONE change. The fear response to humans was turned down. That's it. Otherwise their DNA matches wild cats. Cats are basically wild animals that tolerate you.

This is a start, but we really need to start simplifying & explaining the political economy of CFAS>CVAS. We are all carbon vulnerable asset holders. We all depend on the availability of home owners insurance, we all eat food & drink clean water. Carbon forcing asset owners burn the world for $

They need to hammer down relentlessly on this. They can't become overconfident, like they did with Hillary in 2016.

RFKJr claims Lyme disease was created by scientists, which is the closest he’s come to admitting that science exists. Meanwhile, Ötzi the Iceman, who died more than 5.3K years ago, had Lyme disease. Apparently prehistoric humans are part of the conspiracy. Get me off this timeline

I will forever refuse a vehicle with a fucking screen full of dangerous distractions in favor of old-school, proven, tactile buttons. And this is supposedly a luxury brand.
