I saw #SchoolGirls, a retelling of #MeanGirls that was set in an African boarding school, years ago. The play had to do with colorism, colonialism, and there was New Edition music— they had Candy Girl and a few others. Wonder if songs were chosen for location. Anyway, it's in NYC now. #BlackSky

Birthday party done. Kids had a great time. It was wonderful seeing that youngest surrounded by friends who were so supportive of her. And so many video games that brought me back to the old days.

Today is the youngest birthday party with friends and I have slept like shit. Also everyone on the road today apparently has chosen violence and I am much too tired and fragile for this. Someone send me strength to get through today

I have to say that my dog does not try to cheer me up. She kind of gives us this look of GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER before leaving the room

I always feel like I live in a completely different world when I see someone say that dogs try to cheer you up when you're sad and cats don't. Every cat I've ever lived with has been able to tell when I'm upset, often before other humans, and has expressed concern & care for me.
