SB 716 exists because of the impacts of the Lineage fire on Boyle Heights and East LA. Months of toxic smoke, rotting food, and pest infestations, while the responsible company got off with minimal fines. This bill gives cities real leverage to hold corporations accountable. Gov Newsom, sign SB 716.

Today, we celebrate the people whose work too often goes unseen but never goes without impact. Working people power our communities, care for our loved ones, & make every industry possible. We're proud to stand with workers everywhere and committed to building a future where every worker is valued.

We came together today in Merced to celebrate our hard work, connect with our community, and look ahead to our goals for the rest of the year. Thank you to County Supervisor Luis Lara for joining us - we are proud to have champions for caregivers like Luis fighting for us at the County!

In case you missed it: We stood alongside community members and advocates outside Rep. David Valadao’s Bakersfield office to call on Congress to reverse the largest health care cuts in U.S. history — cuts Valadao voted for in order to fund tax cuts for the ultra‑rich. (1/2) -

Today, we honor the anniversary of Medicaid and the millions of lives it has helped support. As Medicaid faces harmful cuts, care workers, clients, and families are at risk of losing access to essential care, in-home services, and critical support. (1/2)

We’d like to thank the senators who championed and advanced AB 2379, which requires the State Department of Social Services to notify all licensed and license-exempt family child care providers of a person’s rights under the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution, as specified. 💛💚

We’d like to thank the senators who championed and advanced AB 2379, which requires the State Department of Social Services to notify all licensed and license-exempt family daycare home providers of a person’s rights under the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution, as specified, and would also require the department to designate a statewide entity to develop and provide a training program about those rights.

Profitable companies shouldn’t depend on public programs to cover their workers. AB-177 ensures they pay their share. AB-177 (The Medi-Cal: Fair Share from Big Corporations Act) aims to hold large corporations accountable for the taxpayer costs of their employees relying on the state’s Medi-Cal.

Happy #Juneteenth from UDW! It is in this spirit that we continue to build power with our members and commit ourselves to the fight to dismantle ALL systems of oppression so that workers can live their best and fullest lives!

This is what showing up for care looks like. Thank you to all Assembly and State Senate Democrats who stood by care workers, protecting IHSS from state cuts and strengthening the Medi‑Cal asset limit to protect our seniors and people living with disabilities! 💚
