Miss Bonnie Pig wants all the toys, all over the place! 🐽 And why not - life is good, weather warming up, and she knew afternoon lunch would be there soon! Bonnie is a lucky rescue gal, and she is so loved by the UFS Caregiver Team, and definitely her volunteer fan club! 😝

At least once a year, or more often if needed - Bovine Mani-Pedis! Yes, hoof trims. Our stone dust footing helps a little (a bit like walking on an emery board to keep some of the hooves naturally trimmed. Bob Crockett really needed his done at this point, and he looks great.

🐷🌸Penny Blossom's update is that... SHE made a lot of decisions for us last week. With the agreement of the doctors, we made the choice to remove the infected toe, to ramp up the speed of her healing from months to weeks, and having her living her life, no matter how long.

This post is a long one, bear with me. I am going to start off with Mike's message: "If anyone wants to make or send a Get Well Penny Blossom Pig card, I will take them up to her at Cornell Nemo Farm Animal Hospital on Friday this week, and also next week. She will love them!" 🐷🌸Penny Blossom's update is that... SHE made a lot of decisions for us last week. If you have been following, she had been limping on her front here, and we got her up to Cornell quickly. It was definitely an infection, but after debriding the toe, it was actually a BONE infection all the way to the coffin bone. (I will share photos in the comments). With the agreement of the doctors, we made the choice to remove the infected toe, to ramp up the speed of her healing from months to weeks, to get her back to living happily at home sooner, reducing her pronounced pain, and having her living her life, not matter how long. She was not bearing weight on the infected bone after debridment, but now is noticeably brighter and bearing weight on the good toe. Having only one toe gives her some limits if anything happen to that toe. At ten years old, she deserves her best days to be at home. We are expecting to bring her back home in 3 weeks or so, if all goes well. Everyone there loves her, and she gets loving visitors from the other sanctuaries too. We don't focus on the cost directly, but we are always mindful of the costs (around $15,000-20,000 this trip) and mostly having our attention on her quality of life. Her skin cancer is under control too, and Cornell is learning a lot about the electrochemotherapy results with her. Mike drove back to NY to visit with her this weekend and she is doing well (after they reattached her IV more securely today). Any get well cards you want to make we will post them in her stall at Cornell, and later, here! Send them to UFS 17 Unity Ln, Sherborn MA 01770 or drop them off! 🐽

🌎 It was a wonderful day of community at JP Farm Sanctuary in Litchfield CT today. They hosted Gene Baur, founder of Farm Sanctuary for an inspiring talk, then the beautiful gift of time to visit their rescues. We are stronger together, and we were inspired by the energy. 🙏💪⚡️

Great vegan food from GMonkey Mobile, Ayla's Bagels & Coffee, Love it Vegan & JP! John and Kathy, and Tye and Ann Wehr of Unity Farm Sanctuayr felt pretty happy to be there! Wyndham Farm (RI), Behind your Milk (MA) and Clover's Pig Preserve (CT) and many other dedicated animal activists and rescue friends were in attendance. We are stronger together, and we were inspired by the energy. 🙏💪⚡️
