Samurai Cop. Penguin. Eagle of Fate.

Hey. Emergency. Can I get some good news RIGHT NOW. I need to counter my upset feelings about One Night Only looking like a bust. Is a nice movie hitting VOD soon? Is there a new tiein novel? Please. Something I can act on THIS WEEK.

Can I be honest. I am having an autistic episode caused by having two stressful days at work and finding out once again that the new romcom sucks after a summer when I have only had one I liked and a number of films fall through. I need an escape that gives me hope for the future and I don’t have it

I get bitter about this because there’s so few entries in my genre right now and even fewer that aren’t about a vacation or some crap. So to have one of the only ones come out and get “well the actors (neither of whom I like!) are okay” is just not cutting it!

Can I just say hearing how sexless One Night Only really pisses me off? Like it’s perfectly fine to get movies with traumatic imagery that triggers people with self harm ideation but we can’t even get sex in the SEX COMEDY.

Respect to the Violent Night movies for finding a way to make Santa killing a bunch of people funny, awesome, and also making him the good guy. Santa forgets the true meaning of Christmas and has to do a Die Hard plot is a genuinely great hook.

Related but while they were one hit wonders, the song is writer driven and Rupert Holmes is very much not a one hit wonder. I ponder if those count. Icona Pop’s “I Love It” has the same issue. They were OHWs but I’m informed writer Charlotte Atchison is apparently still working & supposedly not ugly

There is a song that I believe transcends culture. Transcends time. Once in an age we get the power of “Timothy” by The Buoys.

This looks gorgeous and really emphasizes how good this movie is. It’s a deeply problematic work but I think there’s a power to it as long as you acknowledge the movie has some major flaws. It’s a movie about life after you matter in a franchise facing that.

Reading this one and it actually feels like whiplash reading this after Children of the Jedi. That went out of its way to not feel Star Wars. This ladles on the fan service. Like it takes you to Hoth and Tatooine. The Hutts are villains. There’s a new Death Star. It’s a blast.

I am absolutely on fire on my newest draft and what I love is how it’s the most insane idea I’ve ever had (okay I’m collaborating) but it’s kind of like a superhero story except utterly wild
