And yet...the crow didn't move away. Even when the sun came up, Wisteria didn't stir and she woke early, staring at the ceiling while she held the general. She felt unsure of what to do but also, she felt quite safe. Warm. Eased. Freedom is right there and she chose the temporary nest.
ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ•° Yingzi calmed down soon after, and fell asleep shortly, still holding Wisteria in her arms. With her unconscious, the barrier put around the house was turned off. ㅤㅤ

"...of course." The crow mumbled and she slowly let one hand climb up to brush through the general's black locks. The other stayed on Yingzi's hand and Wisteria said nothing else, comforting the other woman. No other thought came to mind and she never asked what she dreamed of.
ㅤㅤ•° Yingzi's body moved on its own, leaning forward until her head is pressed on Wisteria's shoulder. Her tears have dried by now, but her face was sort of damp from the sweat. ㅤㅤ“Stay.” ㅤㅤ•° the magic binding Wisteria was gone, and has been gone for a while. ㅤㅤ
And the crow couldn't help but stare, reminded of someone too. Someone she'd push away because of her own blind hysteria. "...silly general." Wisteria sighed and put a hand on the one resting on her wrist, warming up the touch, "And leave you suffering alone? I'm not that evil."
ㅤㅤ•° maybe she's still in a dream. Her hand is wrapped lightly around Wisteria's wrist, a plea for her to stay despite the words she said. ㅤㅤ
But they weren't and it quietly slid open as the Crow Mother stared at Yingzi's anguished and vulnerable form. Those blue eyes seemed to glow in the darkness and they watched, clawed fingers slowly pulling the paper thin doors shut behind her as she stepped into the dark room.
ㅤㅤ•° she never locked them. She never had to. She should have locked them tonight. She truly should have locked them shut. ㅤㅤ
And Wisteria watched her, her smile fading as her hand moved to touch the spot around her neck. The crow had noticed it—that flitter of hesitation and the fact that the magic wavered... She might just be able to get out of here.
ㅤㅤ•° a joke, made less obvious with how serious and grim she spoke. The light flush on her face contrasted it. ㅤㅤ“But very well. I shall meet you tomorrow, Wisteria. Goodnight.” ㅤㅤ•° the general moved out of the kitchen and into the middle garden, then to her room. ㅤㅤ
"Aww, too bad~" Without thinking, the crow reached up and gently wiped the chocolate with her thumb, almost cupping the general's cheek. She smiled and put her thumb to her own lips, licking the chocolate off, "Then I'll make some every now and then. I'll be sure not to add anything dairy to it.
ㅤㅤ•° there's a smidge of chocolate on the edge of her lips. She didn't seem to notice. ㅤㅤ
And that didn't escape Wisteria's senses. Her hand almost grabbed at her own neck, eyes staring downwards as if she was searching for remnants of the spell... But the crow tried to look casually instead at the chocolate bread. No need to be hasty now after all.
ㅤㅤ•° spoken softly. ㅤㅤ•° the invisible magical collar around Wisteria flickered. The feeling of doubt affecting it. ㅤㅤ

"Oh." Wisteria stared in surprise, pausing, "Shouldn't...Shouldn't you have used it on yourself or someone more in need???" The crow was inspecting the liquid, eyeing it quietly before taking in a deep whiff of the potion. Her mind raced to understand what ingredients were used, brows furrowed.
ㅤㅤ“That one is made by the emperor. It heals faster at the cost of being more expensive than the normal one. Only nobles are able to get these, though Jia- the emperor is trying to make a better version of the normal one using some of the more expensive ingredients.” ㅤㅤ
For a moment, Wisteria had a second sense of pushing the general away, not expecting the other woman react so quickly. Hell, she was about to explain herself, maybe even wait for the burns to heal on their own in the next few minutes but... Well, she was beaten to it and the speed threw her off.
ㅤㅤ•° a bottle of potion and bandages appeared in her hands. She poured the potion on the burn wound first, before bandaging the wound. ㅤㅤ“Be careful next time.” ㅤㅤ
Around nearly an hour, a loud sound echoed, followed by a chorus of small exclamations of pain— "Ow, fuck!" Wisteria went to wash her hands immediately, hissing from the burns on her hands, "Shit..." Then her eyes trained to the broken, heavy bowl on the floor, spilling grinded, powder-like sugar.
ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ•° Yingzi restocked her cabinets with vegetables and meat. A time-stopping spell was cast on them, so they wouldn't go bad quickly. ㅤㅤ•° afterwards, she sat in the dining table, waiting. With nothing else to do, she pulled up her sword and cleaned it with a piece of cloth. ㅤㅤ
"Mm." Wisteria nodded and sported a smile, looking ahead and walking on. Once back at the house, the crow practically grabbed all the ingredients and headed straight for the kitchen. She put everything where it needs to be and opted to create dessert first— Aka, the chocolate bread.
ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ•° Yingzi ignored Wisteria's muttering, though a solemn expression settled on her face. Wisteria's death could spell problems for everyone. ㅤㅤ“Come. Let's go back.” ㅤㅤ•° she gently nudged Wisteria, free hand pulling her closer and guiding her towards the street. ㅤㅤ
"It won't be." Wisteria beamed at the general, looking ahead as they walked back for the house. Sure, they can keep playing housewives but what can she do? Bore herself to death just making amulets? Fight the general for her freedom? Plan a terrorist attack?
ㅤㅤ“If it's not too difficult for you.” ㅤㅤ•° maybe something savory is in order for dinner. She wouldn't want to eat sweet food over and over again. Perhaps she'll try that korean food she heard earlier this week. Bibimbap, she thinks.ᐣ ㅤㅤ
And Wisteria is the opposite, clearly excited to get started on baking, cooking, and just generally making new dishes. "Okay then. I'll take over the kitchen and you'll have your snacks ready to feast on." The crow smiled and thought long and hard, "Perhaps, I'll make that chocolate bread but then—
ㅤㅤ“Let's go home.” ㅤㅤ•° it wasn't visible on her face, nor was it obvious from how she spoke, but she was interested in the snack that Wisteria will be making. ㅤㅤ
"Crow thing? She into crows? If that's the case, I'm sure we'll get along well." Wisteria smiled and got to work on doing simple clean up around their apartment. She was glad to see that Denji is doing well, living semi-freely and enjoying himself. Atleast there's not many limits like before too.
Wisteria didn't expect the general to actually know but at the same time, it seems like she's close to the emperor. Then again, it's important to know what kinds of foods your master prefers anyways. "Delicate tastes? Like something mild? Nothing overly sweet or salty..." She wondered if there—
ㅤㅤ•° one overly sweet snack a missionary from the west gave her, and she got sick for a full day afterwards. ㅤㅤ
"Nice, then we should buy some and a bit of extra so you can take it to work." Wisteria declared and moved to take the bread once it was paid for before marching for the sweets shop. ...good gods, she feels like she's playing housewife all of a sudden. Not that she minded, she always did like—
ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ•° rice and chocolate soup.ᐣ Something unusual, though she's not one to judge. Rice cakes are also eaten as sweet snacks, so this isn't out of the ordinary. ㅤㅤ“Chocolate. The sweets store is right in front of this one.” ㅤㅤ
"That was not your fault." The crow insisted with finality, reaching up to mess his hair, "Let go of that. We're here now." And that's all that matters. "And hey, don't make it sound like I'm homeless." Wisteria laughed, nodding, "I have a home everywhere, I know that, and it's especially with—
"Hmm..." Wisteria decided to just pick some white bread, sighing, "Mmm... And then chocolates. I could make a sticky rice and chocolate soup..." Is...is that possible? With rice??? "Anyways, I can make bread on my own too but we can get the ingredients another day." She smiled, turning to Yingzi.
ㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ•° truth be told, Yingzi was never the type to eat bread often. Rice was simply more affordable and more flexible. Bread is still fine, on occasion. ㅤㅤ“I suppose so. Pick the bread, I'll pay.” ㅤㅤ•° bread shouldn't be significantly more expensive than rice. ㅤㅤ
"Well, I do live there. Err, not in the hell world we went to though." Wisteria sighed, noticing Denji's frown before reaching over on her toes, messing his hair up, "Hey, chin up, kid. My real home isn't like that!" Though, after what happened, she wouldn't be surprised if he's still traumatized.
"Then we buy some." Wisteria smiled to herself and continued to tug the general's hand, suddenly eager, "Chin up and wallet out. I'll make a bunch so you can always take one for when you leave for work." And they can both ravage the treats like wolves. Spotting the bread shop, the crow was quick—
ㅤㅤ•° she wanted to say 'no' to it. But the temptation of sweet chocolate sandwiches was too much, even for someone as fearsome as her. ㅤㅤ“There should be a bread merchant nearby. And a sweets seller too.” ㅤㅤ
"Chocolate..." Wisteria whispered, humming before suddenly taking the general's hand, "Come on, let's go buy some bread and see if there's any cacao available to buy." Immediately, the crow was quick to plan to remake whatever the baker made. She might as well as even she felt disappointed.
ㅤㅤ“Ah, the store ... ” ㅤㅤ"Ran out of ingredients. Who knew a simple pan-fried chocolate sandwich would be so popular!" ㅤㅤ•° the man walked into the shop, and Yingzi was left feeling childishly dejected. ㅤㅤ
