More than what you see. A basket. A blackboard. A wheelchair. A wedding dress. For these refugees in Rwanda, they mean a livelihood, an education, independence or a fresh start.
Homeward. Last week, Syrian families choosing to return home travelled from Lebanon to Syria. UNHCR continues to facilitate voluntary returns for refugees who wish to make the journey.
Some good news! After decades away, over 400 Rwandan refugees have voluntarily returned home from the DR Congo, joining almost 8,400 people who have returned since January 2025. For families returning home, it’s a fresh start and renewed hope for the future.
