Mosquito abatement districts in Utah, including SLCMAD, have been detecting recent positive mosquito samples of St. Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV). It is not new to the U.S., & has been detected in Utah before. Like WNV, there is no vaccine to prevent SLEV. Remember to prevent mosquito bites! 🦟

Many of the Utah districts attended the West Central MVCA joint meeting with the Wyoming Mosquito & Vector Control Association last week! Participating in these meetings are valuable and allow different regions to come together to continue improving vector programs and protect public health.🦟
