Early, Eyanson, Witherspoon, Azoocar, Meyer, and others all traded at the deadline and they didn't even get a single clear top 100 player in the league? Wild

STL Cardinals raised, Red Sox passion caught like a bad habit, and filled with Rockies disappointment because otherwise Colorado would be too perfect.
Hard to wrap my brain around this Red Sox payment for Rutschman. They gave up at least 2x in value what Id consider worthwhile for this stage of Rutschman with only 1.3 years of control. I can't help but wonder if Breslow still feels his job is insecure and is desperate for a solid PO run. Oof.
It's wild to realize the Red Sox have as much club control on Contreras as they do Casas. (2 more years)
Just noticed the Dbacks have an all alliteration outfield. Priorities. Corbin Carroll Tim Tawa Tommy Troy
I feel like we're due any day now for a story headline to the effect of, "Mother unknowingly texts and emails with son's AI agent for months after his apparent death"
When someone is trying to walk you, take it. Trust the teammates behind you.
Ah, two out doubles are apparently better than no outs. Sure why not.
I think I've gone from disappointed to impressed with the Red Sox. It takes real skill to consistently not even move a runner to third after leadoff doubles.
The Red Sox might be the least fun team to ever suit up right now. And I've watched a lot of Rockies baseball in my life.
@peteabeglobe.bsky.social Two walks in one game for Ceddanne? I think we might have a Last Starfighter replica situation here.
The defining characteristic of the 2026 Red Sox seems to be that they just make you sad.
@talkingaboutbirds.bsky.social I just had to let you know that I can no longer read 'Haglund's Deformities' without hearing Nates spooky voice version. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
I'm baffled that Trump just handed Russia their best news and biggest gift in at least 4 years for nothing on return, all the while Russia is helping Iran target oil to cause this problem, and it's barely a blip on the news cycle?
Now that the Cardinals have cleared a roster spot (Donovan trade), they really need to get on the DFA carousel and try to slip some 'free' fringe non-roster guys to their system.
What's fascinating about the Red Sox Hicks/Sandlin trade is that they'll have 3 open roster spots by next week when Houck goes on the 60 day IL. One will probably be to sign a top remaining LH reliever (Wilson or Coulombe). Another for an acquired infielder? And another to snag someone's tough DFA?
@iancundall.bsky.social If Sox pivot to a platoon infield acquisition with defense, one very deep option I've had my eye on for a couple years is Jose Fermin w/ the Cards. Good and versatile defense, high contact low K guy. Righty, but well established reverse splits such as to platoon with Romy.
@iancundall.bsky.social I'm such a nerd that I remain on the edge of my seat wondering what 40-man move the Red Sox will make for Suarez. I feel like the Sox truly value everyone currently on the 40 and don't have an obvious DFA candidate. So I'm excited for a possible trade, even if small.
@alexspeier.bsky.social Who might the Sox cut to make room on the 40-man roster? I like everyone on there right now and think anyone DGA'd would be grabbed by another team. Incoming trade, perhaps?
Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!
@alexspeier.bsky.socialim downright shocked they DFAd and surely lost Newcomb for one game of an extra one inning reliever in a game they didn't even use the long guy 27th man
@jmjones.bsky.social surprising to see them go with Leahy for parts of 3 innings. Was Maton unavailable today for some reason?
@alexspeier.bsky.social I wonder if the Cardinals might be an interesting trading partner for a stopgap at 1B. They have both Luken Baker and Alec Burleson that they have no real place for. Baker has huge raw power upside, but is a righty with modest MLB experience. Burley fits well as a lefty...
For the eventual promotion Roman Anthony, people generally focus on the effect on starting outfielders. But I'm fascinated by the downstream effects. Do you really just DFA Refsnyder? He provides real value to this team and you actively make the lefty problem worse.
@peteabeglobe.bsky.social with no word on why Abreu is out the first game regardless of whether it was last night or today, I have to wonder if it's a discipline thing. Late arrival yesterday, perhaps?
@redsoxpayroll.bsky.social With all the attention on deferrals and AAV these days, I'm wondering if the opposite can be true. That is, can an AAV be HIGHER than the top line number if there is an extreme signing bonus contingent and/or an extremely front loaded contract?
The main reason this country could fail is because most people believe it can't, or won't.
When you walk with one foot asleep, do you imagine yourself as a pirate? Or is that just me?
Cardinals fans mostly seem to blame Mo for the recent indecisiveness. But this is eerily reminiscent of the Red Sox under Bloom. Even if it is mostly Mo, I wouldn't expect change under Bloom. Bloom is good at many things, but decisiveness has never been one. But he's young, maybe he'll learn.
The Red Sox should just get Grichuk and be done with the position players and the RHB problem. He's crushed LHP at an all-star level 4 of the last 5 seasons. A nominal bench of Romy, Refsnyder, and Grichuk may sound unbalanced, but Rafealla's versatility makes it doable.
