Words about games on multiple platforms with a handheld focus and some good coffee on the side. Find my work on RPG Site, TouchArcade, Into The Spine, Nintendo Insider, Steam Deck HQ, Respec, & more. Avatar by Kiri from Sukeban Games. Opinions my own.

Wrote about how I'd regularly recommend the Series S to my more casual gamer mates, the broader disastrous trend of console gaming increasingly becoming a hobby for the monied, and how the new & totally unviable Series S price is a searing alarm for another iceberg the industry is sailing toward

Valid complaints about power levels and development strain be damned, the Xbox Series S was the best value in console gaming. That experiment has now utterly failed: https://www.respec.net/feature/135-the-xbox-series-s-was-best-value-in-consogaming-that-experiment-has-now-utterly-failed

Looks like the in-game purchase stuff and subs are handled similar to Xbox and not like PS/PC/Mac. This won't matter for those who play other versions as well (barring the Switch 2 tax sub), but it looks like S2 only players have to use FFXIV Coins for everything unless I'm missing something.
