Panel two: Diego, standing in the kitchen with a can of beer in his hand, looks at Eve and asks, “What’s wrong?” Eve angrily gestures at the oven and yells, “The fucking clock on the oven is five minutes too slow!”

Panel three: Unimpressed, Diego says, “Okay…” Eve turns and points at the microwave, adding angrily, “And the fucking clock on the microwave is five minutes -too fast!-“

Panel four: Eve raises her hands in frustration and screams, “Every fucking month I fix them, and then a month later they’re out of fucking sync again! Why can’t our clocks just run at the -same fucking speed!?- -FUCK!!-“

Can confirm, my monthly earnings have been wildly unpredictable for a number of reasons recently, but I suspect this is a contributor. If you signed up on the iOS app, I’d encourage you to do it on a desktop browser instead.

Apple charges people ~20% more than the Patreon list price and they keep the difference for themselves. They also hold the proceeds of iOS app sales for 75 days, making it impossible for creators to accurately predict earnings. They basically inserted themselves in order to rip *more* people off

2015: A stereotypical hupster dressed in Buddy Holly glasses, moustache, beanie and plaid shirt encounters an older man who says "you lazy Millennials don't wanna work. The man leans in close to the Millennial and says "all you wanna do is avocado toast." The Millennial thinks to himself "I swear to God, when I'm in my thirties, I'm gonna be more charitable to Young People.

YOUR PORTFOLIO CRIT
THINGS I'D TELL YOU IF I WERE LOOKING AT YOUR WORK IN PERSON
1 Violating the 180 degree rule makes this sequence hard to follow
2 A few more incidental overlaps will make this foreshortening clearer
3 Symmetrical compositions with a character dead center imply an important moment. Don't draw every panel like that?
4 This __ looks kind of fake. Take the time to look at reference instead of just making it up
5 An establishing shot will help the reader understand where this takes place.
6 Find a life-drawing session to attend, or practice from photos online.
7 Show these pages to someone who doesn't know the story and ask them to tell the story back to you.
8. Nudge this part over a bit to eliminate that tangency.
9 You flattened out the depth by rendering the foreground, middle ground, & background with the same values. Create depth and direct the eye by organizing them into overlapping planes of light & dark.
10 there are better ways to use your time than rendering every brick.
11 these characters look like they're floating (or falling). Draw figures and bg from the same eye level.
12 Unless this will be a wordless comic, leave more room for the lettering

Alex emerges from a portal in 1970s Japan and reaches out to a man in military uniform. She cries out "Yukio Mishima! I'm from the future. Before you attempt this coup, there's something I think you should see." She holds up an Ipad that displays the title screen for The Amazing Digital Circus. They watch together and Yukio Mishima says "God, I'm just like Jax." He falls on to Alex, weeping and holding her closely. Alex comforts him.

The way character designs evolve over time is one of my favorite aspects of reading a long running comic. Its always so interesting to see how different each artist reacts to their constraints and sensibilities.
