This latest heavy-handed move by Infantino stems essentially from one reason: he knows he risks not being re-elected FIFA president or, worse, facing an investigation in the United States before the end of the year.

To put it as simply as possible: Infantino is the greatest threat football has ever faced. He cannot be re-elected in 2027, and he should have nothing more to do with the world of sport.
