When I first joined Bluesky, I made a remark about how I knew of folks that had been hit by e-bikes, and that I thought they needed to be regulated. I was promptly called a racist. So I expect the discussions here to be as civil as ever.
City Council today announced a long list of bills designed to reform e-bike laws, after a number of fatal crashes www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/n...

I gotta know what dimension is behind this door.
The most disappointing thing about The Odyssey is that Christopher Nolan didn't genetically engineer an actual giant cyclops. 1 star.
Eric Adams isn't around to skim off the top for construction jobs no more. MTA shouldn't be a jobs program for political machines.
Thank you to all who read and support @thecityreporter.nyc Here is my latest story off the transit beat, thanks again! www.thecityreporter.nyc/2026/07/23/b...
Everything about these barriers is a joke. They offer no protection; I often see people leaning on them on the TRACK side. But what really pisses me off is how half-assed the installation is. There are stations with a few of these. Not even along the entire length. It shows they really don't care.
New York's very own "La Sombrita."
Since we're doing Discourse About Things Not Built, I think this is clever: - Getting under New York Bay is exceeding difficult. - The Midtown PATH tunnels are under utilized. Cleave the PATH into two lines: one east-west (WTC to Newark); one north-south (Midtown-HOB-Bayonne-SI)
Two never built plans for rapid transit to Staten Island
A lot of people don't know this, but the 6th Ave-14th St subway station was designed by M.C. Escher.
When are we gonna get a modern day Robert Caro to do a deep dive into the money laundering operation that is the RPA?
Interesting idea from the New York Fiscal Policy Institute: Turn the EDC into NYC's social housing developer. The EDC already has a lot of land, funding, and institutional capacity. Previous mayors molded it to their priorities. What more urgent task is there now than housing?
Stop Subsidizing Office Buildings and Stadiums, Start Building Social Housing
The EDC’s tax giveaways don't get the best deal for the City. Mayor Mamdani has a mandate to build 200,000 homes and a powerful tool to help him do it.

A much better step in the right direction. I dare say that with a bit more work, the subway could be enhanced enough to where this could be a unified map design.
New concept SEPTA Regional Rail map just dropped. Check it out and let them know what you think. wwww.septa.org/maps/

If the opening sentance of your story is factually incorrect, I'm just going to close the tab.
You know a market is trash when they start posting AI slop ads.
You'd think with so many more people pouring through the city today the MTA woulda run more service. Shame they couldn't have known about this World Cup that just dropped in our laps.
This was the first autograph I ever got. Met him on an Amtrak ride from Albany to NYC as a kid. Nice guy.

@vanshnookenraggen.com @jointtransit.bsky.social No idea if this is true but really funny if it is. Apparently QueensWay supporters have resorted to doing a Russian styled botted disinformation campaign. www.reddit.com/r/nycrail/co...
