Thanks. Yes, that's what I was trying to say, but took too long to get there. Our politics community is strong, and I'd love for us to expand into new communities. Science and sports have already taken off. Birding, gardening, K-pop, we're open to all (except nazis and jerks).

I knew when watching the interview that this part would get some attention. Honestly, it's fairly truthful and is just reality. There is nothing inherently built into atproto that favours any specific political viewpoint. Progressives just happen to be looking for alternatives.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

The wording is definitely misleading, but I think what he wanted to say was that Bluesky doesn't have just a single algorithm. He talks about people making their own algorithms with custom feeds later on in the interview. Though he does seem to mistakenly repeat the no algorithms line again.

i dislike this beyond being factually incorrect, it is also missing the core problem with Big Tech Algorithms: it is a matter about who controls attention, not the algorithm itself /1

To my understanding, Bluesky has a lot of runway where they can still go years without monetizing and earning any money. That would be a mistake in my opinion. Better to test out monetization now and get feedback. Improve it and make it sustainable.

Trying all kinds of mpv configs to get this to work, but to no success yet. Frankly, I'm not even certain it's possible to replicate the same behaviour as MPC-HC where audio and video responsibility is passed through to the TV.😞

I have to say, HDR video playback on Linux is kind of jank. Still trying to make it work since this is a dealer breaker for me. MPC-HC on Windows handles this so well. Wish there was something like it on Linux.

If I have to pick between the two, I'm definitely playing Fire Emblem first. As for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, still kind of debating what platform to get it for.

I just realized that Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave comes out on the same day as Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. Those are my two most anticipated games of the year. 😵‍💫

Passing bit-perfect audio to my DAC is important. Qobuz's Windows app has exclusive mode that does this. There's no official Linux app, but there is a 3rd party app called QBZ that has feature parity. Though from what I can tell it substitutes a sensible audio output switcher in favour of this:

Trying out Linux as my desktop OS for the first time in a really long time. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work right after install and there is no screen tearing. That's a pretty good start considering those are some issues I've had in past attempts.

These larger video posts from the bots are becoming more of a challenge. The text post used to go through even when the video was too large. Behaviour seems to have changed.
