Two postdoc positions in the lab within the ERC Synergy project "Chronology" in collaboration with S. Ostojic, M. Jazayeri and V. van Wassenhove @virginievanw.bsky.social . Two focuses: sound sequences representations across the brain & novel all-optical technology. Contact: brice.bathellier@cnrs.fr

A very clear, detailed, and fair account on the (obscure?) French way to distribute positions in academia, and then manage to actually do some research! Thanks Olivier

In case this is helpful for anyone, here is a post on how to get a job in french academia : trialsanderrors.substack.com/p/getting-a-... Aimed at non-french scientists who are curious, but french ones may find it useful too.

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service. “Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.

White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion

The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.

A milestone paper for the lab. First causal demonstration of the impact of temporal information format on learning & a clear demonstration that the mouse auditory system structures sound representations very similar to what sound categorization deep networks do. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

A spatial code for temporal information is necessary for efficient sensory learning

The auditory system transforms temporal information in sounds into spatial information for rapid associations with decisions.

📱 On the 19th of February, the B-CRATOS consortium will be running the "Neural Horizons: Future Panorama within Brain-Machine Interfaces" workshop. This is free to attend (although registration is mandatory) with lots of very interesting talks and panel discussions!
