What's it made of? It's about 80-100% of something we call HDP. Human Designed Privacy. And well, it's pretty much what it sounds like. A privacy focused app framework built for humans, by humans. No vibe coding, VCs or profit motives. Sorry for the video, but We still need some space, Carol.

“Nearly” everyone 😉 Veilid does rely on volunteers who run inbound capable nodes but they can be anywhere (and on any port). AWS, Digital Ocean, a raspberry pi at your house, whatever 😃 Decentralize the planet!

Meaning that infrastructure like AWS is not something that Signal, or almost anyone else, could afford to just “spin up.” Which is why nearly everyone that manages a real-time service–from Signal, to X, to Palantir, to Mastodon–rely at least in part on services provisioned by these companies. 8/

Nodes that do not update will continue to connect to each other until an event (reboot, etc) causes them to try bootstrapping again. At that point they will cease connecting to any other nodes. The future is upon us! Update those nodes! Be the brick!
