Visual Tutorial on how to achieve a Frutiger Aero Y2K waterdrop button effect for graphics.

1: Base Art - Keep art simple and rounded for best effect.
2: Inset Gradient from Dark to Light - Keep lightsource direction in mind.
3: Highlights - Bright highlights over the darkest area of the button + interior soft highlight opposite to it for max contrast.
4: Bounce Light/Reflections.
5: Dimension - Add dropshadows, outlines, and subtle gradients to add depth and imply the bevel of whatever surface the button is set into.

Struggle with knowing where to start when drawing metal? 🔪✨ Here's a way you can incorporate metallic rendering into your art! There's more than one way to draw metal, so be sure to use ref and try different techniques! More in the comments ⤵️ ✿[ #art | #arttutorial | #illustration ]✿

Goals: Establishing Basic Shape, Lighting, and Material

1. Draw a base shape in midtone (50%) gray - This makes it easier to build form with black/white.

2. With a soft round brush, use black or dark gray to block out the shadows of your shape.

3. With the same brush, use white to create highlights and bounce lights on your object. Focus on good
contrast and a variety of values (light and dark). High contrast + sharp edges between shades = more metallic look.

4. On a new layer, make some reflected lights. This isn’t necessary, but this helps to make the metal feel more
shiny/realistic and adds interest.

5. Apply a Gradient Map to the shape, making sure to clip it to your object. Focus on good contrast and a variety of
values (light and dark). Use references for a more realistic color palette.

6. Use colors from the background to make a more realistic look that better incorporates
the metal into its environment. Use references for better effect.

Note: Programs that allow Gradient Maps will typically
have a large library of pre-made Gradient Maps for you
to choose from. You can also save custom gradients.
