🧵Yesterday, I received notice that my #NIH grant, on the social environment, lifecourse, epigenetics & #birthoutcomes in Black families, was terminated. This grant represented a critical effort to address the ⬆️ rates of maternal & infant mortality in the US, particularly among Black mothers & babies

Providing every child access to a high quality education is the most important thing we can do to protect our future. An educated workforce drives the economy, scientific innovation and secures our countries place as a world leader. Eliminating the #doe will hurt all of us. #departmentofeducation

Interesting that the people making decisions about #NIH #IDC rates don’t even know how to interpret IDC data… The average “IDC rates” between 27% and 28% reported by NIH they refer to in the supplemental guidance notice are actually %’s of total costs, not IDC rates 🙄

The Senate HELP Committee has jurisdiction over NIH. GOP members of the committee represent AK, AL, IN, FL, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, OH, and SC. Research universities and hospitals in those states need to be extra loud.
