AB-412 UPDATE The Al Copyright Transparency Act WE'RE NOT GOING AWAY Artists & Creators Must Have Transparency! The irony of a transparency bill dying in the dark is not lost on those of us in the creative community. Big Tech is terrified of transparency. Big Tech, who has fought us every step of the way on the Al Copyright Transparency Act, has now succeeded in getting the legislature to kill AB-412 behind the closed doors of an appropriations committee. It should be noted that AB-412 was a bill that had no fiscal appropriation whatsoever. This will be devastating to the creative industries, their IP, and the hundreds of thousands of creative workers who bring billions of dollars to California's economy. Creative workers are struggling, and this very simple transparency bill could have helped countless people. The issue is not going away, and delaying workable solutions for such an increasing problem will only make the situation worse for everybody. Our coalition representing more than 3.8 million individuals, brought creative workers from every corner of the creative economy together with a unified voice. Our bill passed out of the California Assembly, four committees in the State legislature, and several hundred individuals showed up at every single public hearing to say just how much a bill like AB-412 could help them. This issue is not going away. We are not going away. We are now moving to put our energy towards the next best steps. Please take a moment to contact Assembly Member Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (916) 319-2016 and Assembly Member Ash Kalra (916) 319-2025 to thank them for their leadership in authoring and Co-Authoring this bill respectively. The bigger issue is that this gives people the ability to launder real csam. Real csam ran through AI almost instantly becomes legal.

A federal judge has ruled that the First Amendment protects an individual's right to privately possess child sexual abuse content created using Al if it does not depict a real person and remains in the home. On Tuesday, Judge John Z. Lee of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th District ruled that the First Amendment protects an individual's right to privately possess images or videos of child sexual abuse created using artificial intelligence if the material does not depict a real person and remains in the home. In his ruling, Judge Lee urged the Supreme Court to reconsider the issue of virtual abuse material of children in the age of Al, suggesting that technological advances complicate existing legal precedent. The case Lee ruled on came about in 2024 when the Department of Justice brought charges against Steven Anderegg, alleging that he used Al to create thousands of explicit images of children. He was accused of breaking federal obscenity laws by producing, distributing and possessing obscene visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Anderegg sought to have the possession and production charges dismissed under the First Amendment. Last year, a judge in the Western District of Wisconsin agreed to dismiss the possession charge, prompting the federal prosecutors to appeal. Lee, in his ruling upholding the lower court's decision, cited the precedent set by Supreme Court rulings from 1969 and 2002. One held that individuals have a right to possess obscenity in the privacy of their home. The other found that "virtual" child sexual abuse material, not depicting a real person is not child pornography.

twitter got rid of the media grid because the media tab is now defaulting to video posts only, and you have to click a dropdown menu to go from the Default Assumption Of Videos to Photos. they do not like artists on twitter. minor friction adds up.

After being online for about 30 days, Hoyo are shutting their AI desktop companion down and it is being removed from the Steam store. LO, and may I add, L.

According to the official schedule, at 3:00 p.m. on August 27, the product will be updated to ar offline version, while functions that depend on online services, such as "Write a Letter" and "Upload MIDI," will be disabled. At 3:00 p.m. on August 31, "BSide: Olivia Lin" will be removed from the Steam store, and its servers will officially shut down. The offline version will retain functions such as piano performance and animated desktop wallpapers, which will remain usable even afte the servers are shut down. From entering Early Access on July 13 to announcing its shutdown on August 11, "BSide Olivia Lin" had been available for less than 30 days. Prior to this, miHoYo had spent nearly a year laying the groundwork for the character "Lin Li. In August 2025, the Bilibili account "** Fa Olivia posted its first piano performance video. The account continued to post performance-related content afterward, and in March this year, it began releasing videos of activities sucl as reading and replying to letters.It is worth mentioning that not long ago, Anuttacon, co-founded by Cai Haoyu, also permanently shut down its Al companion product "AnuNeko." This perhaps once again demonstrates how everyone is rapidly experimenting and making mistakes in the process of exploring Al, in order to find a more suitable path. Although "BSide" has now been confirmed to be shutting down, game companies such as miHoYo will likely continue exploring Al.
