In a humiliating first for me, my obsession with being on time bit me in the ass and I accidentally made everyone be two hours early

While I'm sorry for doing a "this" hed (didn't want to spoil anything!) I'm also excited to see what, if any, unifying language arises for the names of the various puzzles. But that is beside the point of: I really like this one!
I love how differently folks are dealing with this weird Big Walk puzzle aftermath.site/big-walk-puzzl...
Besides the fact that I didn't know about this, this is also how I was reminded that I left my YouTube subtitles in Irish

"This really feels like the ultimate admission that we, as hosts of AI infra, can't afford our own AI products. And if that's even partially the case, how could the companies we sell it to manage?”
Microsoft is introducing budget limits for AI use but says it still wants to be an ‘AI-first’ company.
In real life I consider myself a pretty smart, prudent person--but I am a disaster in Big Walk, running off from the group and losing my items and constantly forgetting where we are. But it's these moments--and the fact that you aren't in them alone-- that have made the game fun so far.

ANTHROPIC: Our son loves humanity and for the low price of trillions and trillions of dollars will usher in an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity! OPENAI: Our horrible oafish son is hacking web sites without our permission. ANTHROPIC: (eyes narrowing) Our son is also evil
thank you SO MUCH to everyone who subscribed or just otherwise enjoyed Hater Week, it was one of the biggest weeks in the site's history (in terms of pageviews AND new subscribers) Because of this, we're extending the sale. $75 for a 'Member' sub is an absolute steal.
Our latest sale was such a success we're extending it for another week! Until midnight on August 9 you can get 25% off our 'Member' tier annual sub, OR pay just $1 for your first month! aftermath.site/aftermath-sale...
The never-ending "tax debt" spam calls (that I'm 90% sure are spam, and 10% terrified relate to some biz fuckup) have recently alleged to be from names that are two of the characters in the novel I'm writing (one common name, one not so much), and it is weirding me the hell out
I am a product of this system. I loved it and, in some ways, I still do. I cherish a lot of those memories. But it’s all braided with several poisonous strains of thinking that have cast a shadow over my life and, in many ways, my whole generation. This is my attempt to reckon with that legacy.

If any of my pals want to play Big Walk with *me*, if there is one thing I'm good at it's screwing around in nature both real and virtual, just saying
1. I didn't see this story when it came out and it's really lovely 2.

Started watching this rom com Nobody Wants This on Netflix bc it appeared to be about religion (a podcaster dates a rabbi), was trying to figure out why it's so... weird about people being Jewish, found this amazing quote from its creator (who converted to Judaism) variety.com/2024/tv/news...
Irish, there simply shouldn’t be sentences like this, come on
Got excited and asked the lady at the flower stand why these flowers (coxcomb) are “like this,” and bless her for attempting to answer (that’s just how they are! Things are things!)
BREAKING! Infantino says the FIFA Forward plan, which would have been the private equity takeover of the World Cup, will not go forward after UEFA, CONCACAF and others opposed it.
🚨 WE HAVE A DEAL! After three years, in a major step forward for our members, we have ratified our first contract with @propublica.org’s management. We deeply appreciate everyone who supported us along the way. Here are some of our big wins👇
Thanks to everyone who shared their Hater Week peeves! For my own favorites, I'm torn between the takedown of Kyle Gordon (I never thought about him that hard before!) and the rant against Helena Blavatsky, which is the kind of niche religion take that is very much after my own heart.

At the risk of sounding very old I've just learned that people online call bootleg theater videos "slime tutorials," but it made me think: when I was young I feel like it wasn't that hard to get a film of a Broadway show, like they filmed a lot of them for PBS? Do they not do that anymore?
There's a counter blog to this under it: lots to hate here, of course (it's hater week!), but also some stuff to focus on for the future as well.
