Restricted field mutability looks awesome – I would love to not write getters for read-only fields ever again (e.g. when invariants must be preserved but accessing values is fine)
Native sealed traits coming! blog.rust-lang.org/inside-rust/... #rustlang
I'm not in the mood after spending yet another night in the underground car park, so I'll let this non-gamedev post slip through: every ordinary Russian deserves the same what Ukrainians are living through right now if reading this makes you feel uncomfortable, then go fuck yourself
AI native routing. Why do we even need IP tables anymore? Just let Claude look at the packets and make a decision.
Got it working on MacOS! With a 6s delay between reloads.. BUT HOLY COW HOT-RELOADING WORKS
I've heard dx subsecond finally supports workspaces. Time to give it a try! Context: checking if I can enable hot-reload for developing my game (rust+bevy)

Ok, I finally got this "callback hell" (with ecs messages) working to get the quest completion screen. As usual, multiplayer makes shit x10 more difficult. P.S. don't mind the "correctly marked mines" counter, it's incorrect

I try to keep this profile about game dev only, but I can't say I'm not grinning like a child on his birthday this whole morning 🥰 Nice change of news after spending nights in a bomb shelter in Kyiv
Moscow panorama 🔥✨
quest progress is now synced in multiplayer!! spent an insane amount of time to cover all the silly edge-cases, and might still discover more later 🫠
Spent a ridiculous amount of time on optimizing a stupid loop out with maths! Absolutely not worth it performance-wise for the game of my scale but I definitely had fun
Multiplayer syncing is done btw! I won't upload a new gif today, cause we've got an air raid alert and I'm no longer at my PC. Will be working on quest rewards next!
✅ Quest progress is now being tracked! The next step will be synchronizing this thing in multiplayer
I quite enjoy the fact that gamers are so hostile towards the AI slop. After seeing how many people outside adopt AI or consume its slop without any second thought, it's nice to retreat here, where companies get slammed hard for producing it.
Day 3 of trying out vim. I still feel like I spend most of my cognitive energy on trying to figure out the most effective way to jump to code I want to edit. Some shortcuts started carving into my muscle memory, but I'm still quite far from being able to use it comfortably.
Started learning vim. Am I getting older?

There's definitely a problem in my planning when I decide to play WoW till midnight. Gotta make up for it tomorrow and finally post something sensible
Trying to develop a habit of posting about my game daily. I'll have to market my game somehow (and my only channel are social networks atm) so I need to learn what works and what doesn't. Even if I don't have anything big to talk about, I'll try to post something anyway.
Here's some lazy late evening content from me. Instead of me telling about the code, how about you guys try to guess what it does, why it's so convoluted, and what were the requirements? 😅 And I'll give the answer it a bit later 🙂 (Criticism/review is also welcome)
I just second this, nothing more to add
I’m sorry to say that one thing LLMs *are* very consistently good at is implementing your idea very shitty so that you IMMEDIATELY go in and fix it all by hand. Great way to break executive dysfunction AND you usually end up with 0% AI code
The sponsor of my low productivity today is this milestone I've just achieved in World of Warcraft
Working on a new gameplay system in the hope to stitch my game's mechanics into an enjoyable loop. ✨ Quests ✨ Some common feedback I'm receiving is that my game's lacking a goal. And, well, it's indeed a challenge for me to come up with one. /

Can't believe it's been 5 years of maintaining bevy_egui, and 40 versions have been released already
Hi! I've got a couple of news to share. About a month ago, I've applied to the Tiny Teams festival. Still waiting for the review, so I'm staying cautiously optimistic This is my first trailer ever I've submitted (video editing is my passion 😅) ! Also, I'm organising a playtest!👇
When russians are bombing you but you still have to prepare your game for the playtest
reading my code out loud with an aussie accent is (not) advised
