Samus viciously choking/absorbing something while staring angrily through her cracked helmet is the hottest thing I've ever seen in my life

The "importance of good nutrition" bit hit close to me, as several years back I just kinda "existed" through life it feels like, and that includes the kinds of art I consumed - usually whatever was kinda popular, but not "ugh, it's popular so I hate it", not to mention all the social media. (cont.)

it’s not enough to build something, part 2: you must be aware that someone will play the video game
Years ago, a teen pitched an idea to me: “what if you wrote a story about an alien from the perspective of an alien?”

Idk if it exactly applies, but Far Cry 5. It's not the most "out there" game by any stretch of the imagination, I am just kinda surprised people I talked with generaly liked it better than FC6, and I never quite got "why" (although obviously whole series took quite a dip after 3-4).
No hate, no dogpiling, just curious. For me, it's Skyrim. Don't know why, considering it should be exactly my kind of game, but it just didn't click for me.
Kinda randomly recalled that I saw her performance live around the end of 2023, and how it incredible it was, been a while www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TEi...

Been learning the ropes with some Godot stuff from a course I bought couple years ago but didn't touch until recently, and man, GDScript is honestly such a breath of fresh air to use. Like, idk if it's me just "getting experienced" or whatever, but in the past I just felt like I didn't *get* coding
Incredible critique, not many people do it the way Monty does these, highly recommend, both this one and the one on TNO!
The horror of Wolfenstein: The New Colossus is in how much monstrous machinery was already in the US, waiting for someone to plug in. In places the game feels underdeveloped. But one thing stays the same. We're in the Nazi-killing business. And business is good. youtu.be/eIIglIWwwj0?...
Controversial video game opinion: i hate when games have “mechanics”. I already have to struggle enough in my real life, why are you putting additional, artificial problems in the way of me experiencing the story? I’m just trying to relax, not do homework.
Oh, you've made a video game? And you want people to play it? Well, let's talk about how to do that better. How, exactly, can you make sure people care about your game and want to tell other people about it? Check it out here: docseuss.medium.com/its-not-enou...

Holy shit, Diesel 3.0! Insane work by Sidetrack games - moved that old piece of junk engine to 64 bit, updated it to DX11 from DX9, and reduced the install size from 86 gigs to ~32 Super excited about it, might even make me reinstall the game after years of not playing it

did a blog post of my Thoughts on the Actual State of Unreal in 2026, how it has come to this, etc etc. i've been an unreal user since 2008, and this is the worst the vibes have ever been. is there hope? perhaps www.joewintergreen.com/absolute-sta...
My main desktop PC's RAM kinda died, and I cant afford to replace it right now, so I've been using Steam Deck basically as a desktop for past months And well, it's a PC! Been doing some gamedev stuff, some blender work and so on. It's relatively straightforward to get even Unreal Editor to run on it
as much as i've loved jailbreaking assorted consoles and handhelds, on the Steam Deck, there is no jail to break. you just boot into desktop mode and it's a full-ass computer. install OpenOffice and Zoom on that shit, use it for work. not even God can stop you.
Really nice very early morning Warsaw Old City photos from my morning walk
Ok but do buy Pacific Drive because we get a cut from that one, it's not a HUGE cut, but it's the only time I've ever had a cut that has paid out
Check on itch first, then other store fronts. (Itch takes the smallest cut.) I'm not gonna argue the definition of "indie" - but seriously not something that already has a million sales. You're looking for small, artisanal video games. Stuff you've never seen mentioned at any show.
On the other site, @numetalmoment.bsky.social posted this great write-up about why nu metal is/was so hated and, despite people's best efforts, it can never stay dead for long.
Got a ticket for TADC Last Act for tomorrow showing in here, super excited!
I miss Reliqa, almost 2 years since their debut album, I hope they'll make more songs (also I should get back a vinyl of it back from a friend lol)

I have released my level scripting i/o system, it's called JoeIO and it works great for me and at work but it's early so be gentle and just holler if you come across any weirdness. An explanatory video is below www.joewintergreen.com/joeio-a-leve...
I spent some of this week making an I/O system for level scripting in Unreal for @sleightofhand.game! I have long had thoughts on why these kick ass. Here's an unusually long blog post on: -why these kick ass -why they are necessary -how mine works -etc etc www.joewintergreen.com/i-o-systems-...
