#SongsOfSeptember I go back and forth on this one a lot but ultimately I think Growing Pains by Sammy Copley fits the best. Aloïs is technically an adult (she’s 21 during the events of False Knight) but she still has A LOT of growing ahead of her.

Songs of Broken Bells: It starts with a tiny spark flickering to life in a forest. It catches on some plant life and quickly grows and spreads. We follow the flame through the path the group takes throughout the story as it continues to grow more erratic and destructive. Shadows begin to chase 1/3

Over a dark forest: The Witch of the Wood - Novella - MM Fantasy Romance - Breaking a Curse - A Spooky Forest - A Search for a Witch - Nervous x ConfidentThere was a witch hiding in the trees of Hatwick Wood. They were a steward of the wood, caring for the alders, maples, and cedar within, watching over the home of the beasts and birds. The witch ensured that villagers never took more than they gave, that they were never ravenous in their consumption of the gifts they were given. This was the witch’s sacred duty, and their magic had flown wild and free as they upheld their oath. The people who survived on the generosity of Hatwick Wood—every denizen from Farbreak at the south edge to Northpost on the opposite side—respected the witch. Although they had never seen the steward of the wood, stories about the witch had been passed down through the families. Everyone knew the witch was the forest caretaker, and if anything ever went wrong, they needed to be found to mend it. No one knew this better than the Ashtons. Milo Ashton came from a long line of people who made their living in the forest. His grandfather, and his grandfather’s grandfather, and every generation before that were hunters. It wasn’t work that would make them rich, or elevate them above common folk, but it was good, honest work that would always be needed. The Ashtons had always hunted in Hatwick Wood, respected it, and in turn, the wood gave them a bounty.
