Today I spent time at a flea market in Haifa looking for postcards for Patreon reward paintings. Got some international ones too. The flea market is daily, but the most active day is Saturday. Unlike Jaffa, there's more "practical" stuff like washers in addition to "trinkets".

"Denying humanity of others" is what can be seen by the American organizations such as "women's march", towards Jews themselves. This of course is seen as justified because something something Israel. People were ignoring|denouncing ADL as "zionist" when it was convenient for them, for decades.

I'm not an American, but I notice that not only that — most prominent emigres would be westerners coming to the US, and obviously it's easier for them. Elon Musk came to US as a Canadian; John Oliver as British. People also often assume that people with "nonwhite" names & "looks" must be immigrants.

I find restricting replies and quotes an overall negative. The first means that the person wants to only read comments by those who e.g. follow them, which is fair, but then if it is an open profile this looks as a blackmail, i.e. "inflate my follow count to be able to reply".

In USSR there was a phrase, spoken derogatorily, "they hired them on vacancies!", i.e. that they hired people based on vacancies which was seen being worse as hiring via nepotism. The "west" simply catches up, where nepotism is the only workable solution, vacancies becoming more&more irrelevant.

The same Russian outlets that regularly dedicate significant attention to falsely claiming that ‘Ukraine is refusing peace’, today took a break from that narrative and returned to very openly discussing the ‘erasure’ of Ukraine as a state.

The guy tried to run for president while being very careful in not to anger the regime with his rhetoric, but his anti-war messaging and the public support made him a target anyway.
