The reason Rs hold all 3 branches and most state legislatures is they ignore your take. When they saw that single issue voters stay home when that issue isn't met, they became the pro gun & anti abortion party. They didn't blame, they listened and adjusted to satisfy those blocks.

Just to be clear: Destroying the factory manufacturing centrifuges (which are necessary to produce weapon grade enriched uranium) may or may not noticeably delay bomb development but it is not a surprise that there was no nuclear material at that factory.
